Side (hamburger) menu not closing automatically upon navigating to new page

Hi,
since a week or so the side menu sticks up covering the pages and I have to purportedly switch it off by clicking on the three lines. This is so either on the app and the browser page.
Very annoying

I’m observing the same thing.

What OS and browser?
iOS and Safari works fine for me

Same here for the last few days. iPad and safari latest versions.

Android app and chrome, same issue

once i pressed the three line icon it’s ok again, but i’d been stuck for two or three days, not knowing what to do and not being able to use the site :joy:

this is what it looks like

so… you’re confirming that it indeed works, once the 3 horizontal line button is pressed (this is called the hamburger button, i believe this is a UI coming from Android) and the side menu fades away.

Ok, now I think understand, and could confirm it happens on my phone too.
@david
If you open the side menu , switch to another page, it won’t close automatically ( for example switch from calendar to power curve page or any other page). You have to explicitly click on the hamburger (three lines) to close the menu again.

Yes but on ipad it used to stay open and not interfere with the rest of the page. Like on a desktop computer. That is what changed last week.

Ah… Yes. Thanks for your input/info. On the desktop, the side menu will automatically close / stay open, but I presume that it’s because there is available horizontal space so there’s no need to hide anything.

I tried on the desktop, but mimic a phone / tablet config and yeah… I can see the issue. I just wasn’t aware how it looks like on a phone/tablet as I don’t use it to navigate the site.

@david could this be due to the Notes field change?

The side menu open / closed state should now be remembered separately for desktop, phone and tablet. It used to open/close automatically but this was causing problems for the new week notes feature. So if you hide it now it should stay hidden. If you open it, it will stay open.

Yes it is.

it’s really fine now I know what I’m doing. It just caught me by surprise and I didn’t know how to handle it.

On big screens that is no problem, because it can always be visible.
On small screens you have to click three times (open menu, change page, close menu) to change the page now, instead of clicking twice. No big deal, if you know it, but no great UX either (it is not what user are expecting how it would work)

Ooh I understand the problem now. Fixed. Tx for explaining it.

I had the same issue before, but see that it has been fixed. But on my desktop (pc, chrome) since about the same time the above issue started, the page doesn’t load the most current week, but rather mid Feb. Logging out and logging back in, as clearing cache did not seem to solve it. Anyone else have this issue?

I always use the desktop onky. Can’t say I have this issue.

Chrome. Safari. Brave. macOS.

maybe it was chrome URL memory feature, I’ll see if using the generic one works as expected.

Intervals.icu encodes the selected week in the URL e.g. https://intervals.icu/?w=2025-03-10. So maybe you have that in a bookmark? You need to edit it and remove the ?w=2025-03-10.

all good, thanks. it was my error in bookmarking the old week. fixed it.
