I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of Strava, segment hunting and all that jazz, but one thing I do like, is to see how my fitness evolves over segments (W/Kg, not time) I typically use (it is pretty much the only reason why I use strive.ai).
I also love to use Xert’s Segment Hunter, one of two main reasons why I use Xert (that and having the live MPA on my Edge).
Would it be possible to have a section where we can see how our W/Kg is evolving on a given segment?
Do you use the paid version of strive.ai or the free one? Does either work with a non-subcriber Strava account, or do you still need that?
Xert’s CIQ Segment Hunter and MPA field are great, although I hardly ever use the Segment Hunter and prefer a screen wit MPA and TTE/TTR together.
Anyway, neither will give you the W/Kg analysis you get from strive.ai and I know @david can work miracles, but if anything, moving away from exclusive Strava dependency would probably interfere with your request…
I do not pay for strive.ai, nor am I a subscriber to Strava.
Moving away from Strava does interfere, but you do have segments on Garmin as well. Also, I guess moving away from Strava, does not mean it will be disconnected from it… Just optional, I’m assuming.
I know Garmin has its own set of segments, but that’s like 10% of Strava’s at best, even after you scrap all duplicates and ‘your mom smells like donuts’ ones.
RideWithGPS also has a reasonable collection of segments.
I have added that to the todo list. I might need to generalise it to “personal best for 2.5km 8% climb” or make “Intervals.icu segments” perhaps from intervals on a ride (make the interval a segment). Then it won’t be dependent on Strava/Garmin segments.
True Especially when it seems it could be done quite neatly. But there is lots of easy stuff on the todo list to tackle first. When I have got the new server up and am further along with separation from Strava.
I like to check my segments on RideWithGPS, you get more data than on Strava (and better rankings, because of… fewer users :-p), but it’s difficult to find the ones you want :-\
Not that difficult, but they may not yet have been created.
This is more precise on RwGPS than Strava, where the segment search basically is useless. Even when using the map, you don’t see them, while you KNOW they are there, b/c you’ve ridden them…
I was not thinking about that aspect.
The difference is that you can tag the segments you want to follow on Strava, and then you can quickly access them. On RideWithGPS, it’s a pain to retrieve those segments. Even for the about 40ish ones that I already created.
Oh, I didn’t know I could pin them ! But I just tried it, I pinned one of my segments and then… what ? I don’t see any option to search for my pinned segments !? Even in the list of my 40 segments, there is no difference between pinned or not pinned segments, except for the little icon showing only when I move my mouse over.
well, the good news is that Ride with GPS, does provide Routes information through their API, so it looks theoretically possible, and apparently they do associate the Route ID on the User Rides (so, kind of like seeing the Segments you went through during a ride, in Strava language)
