In screenshot above all the 15s and 45s intervals are called the same thing (‘Work’).
It would be nice to be able to rename these and then filter by name. Alternatively, even to be able to filter by time would suffice.
If I’m not mistaken you can give those intervals names that show up in the overview (never seen this list view though - I’m talking about the view on the graph)
If you double-click the top of the field section, you can edit and label an interval.
The view in screenshot above is the standard view of the Activity ‘Interval Data’ page.
The situation as it works now is that only ‘Work’ intervals can be labelled. The workout time between two Work intervals is named ‘Recovery’ and can’t be edited.
If you let Intervals detect the intervals, the above case would have intervals of approximately 15s with ‘Recovery’ in between. But the accuracy to detect these short bursts is probably not going to suffice. You get this list of adjacent ‘Work’ intervals when interval detection is set to ‘Use Laps’ (the laps created by the workout or by using the lap button).
An alternative could be that the list on the Interval Data Page can be sorted by clicking on the field headers. But that will create confusion when clicking an interval to edit, because they are no longer chronological ordered.
Not sure which way to go here…
Double clicking doesn’t seem to do anything on that page for me but I can edit label via the ‘edit’ button located beside the ‘work’ and ‘recovery’ interval type names.
Correct
This is a problem in this instance because the 45s intervals are not recovery. There are recovery intervals of 4m each within that workout. I want to name the 15s and the 45s intervals with different names and leave recovery as is.
I can’t currently sort like that either. But that would be an option. I just want to be able to batch select whatever intervals I want and name them whatever I want and after that be able to filter accordingly (like we can currently do with each of ‘work’ and ‘recovery’
Your last post made it a little clearer, in that the recovery is not the shorter interval but the 4-min between the set of 15/45.
What purpose would it serve to be able to rename it? Over-unders, Tabata, Fartlek, all have a name for the type of interval.
Not questioning your motives, but rather curious why it matters. If it’s to be able to view the 8x15s next to each other, or the 45s intervals, then I can perhaps understand why.
I am planning to do some work on the interval list view soon (averages and so on) which will involve selecting intervals with checkboxes, then I can do bulk edit of the interval label.
Hey guys and @david , just wanna quickly slide into the convo as I am also curious about the status of the batch rename. This would be super convenient.
I can make the following use case: when I create a workout in Garmin I sometimes write notes into different workout steps (e.g. the HR range to aim for or the pace to aim for, I know you can set workout targets in Garmin Connect for the different steps, but I hate that and try to avoid it). When I then load the activity into Intervals the intervals are all called exactly like the note I have put in, e.g. “174-183, ~3:35min/km”. And I want to batch rename all intervals (say 12x400m) to just “Run”.
It’s pretty tedious to do it manually for each one, so a batch rename function would be super convenient.
This dialog has changed slightly. It edits visible intervals like before but if any of the visible intervals have been selected then only these are edited.
