Qustions about trainerroad ride not imported from Garmin

Hi!
I have a couple of questions about a trainerroad ride I did today and that was imported automatically into Garmin Connect (recorded only in the trainerroad app):

  1. the ride did not appear in intervals.icu even though appears correctly in Garmin Connect. Is there anything that I have to do?
  2. I manually uploaded the connect fit file to intervals, but the VO2max field is empty. This was updated in Connect but probably not present in the original fit file, given the way Garmin processes an activity recorded by trainerroad. Is there any way to get the updated VO2max value into intervals?
    Thanks!
  1. Garmin only forwards activity files that were recorded on a Garmin device or that were uploaded manually (at least in some cases for the manual upload). The reason is probably that they refuse to simply be a hub for forwarding data and want to make sure that you do visit the Garmin Connect web site.
  2. All fields from Garmin activity

Thanks! I never realized about this limitation in syncing from Garmin.

Regarding VO2Max, I’m familiar with the extra fields, but I’m afraid the fit file downloaded from connect doesn’t have the info.

As far as I understand trainerroad sends the activity to Garmin, Garmin syncs it to the watch, the watch processes the activity and calculates VO2Max, training effect, etc… and then syncs it back to Connect, but the fit file doesn’t seem to include this post processed VO2Max.
I also tried to find the fit file for the activity in the watch but I wasn’t able to, even though the activity shows up in the watch history.

That’s at least partially correct… I don’t know if it is being sent to the watch.
On the older Garmin Edge models (up to x30??), the VO2max calculation was done on Garmin Connect and was not in the FIT file, thus not available for Intervals. From the x40 models on, the calculation is done by the unit itself and in the FIT file. The situation might be the same for Training Effect and other stuff.
The TrainerRoad file will not have the VO2max and might not even have the others, not sure. Does it have Training Effect?
The easiest solution, if you don’t have virtual routes, is to dual record and let your device send the FIT file. Then you got it just the same as when riding outdoors.

Thanks! All these questions come from the fact that I cannot dual record in a specific case. At home I always dual record, but I started to use a bike at the gym (Technogym Skillbike) that only connects with Bluetooth (Ant+ for some reason is disabled) and Garmin devices won’t connect to it. I thought it was my forerunner problem, so I even bought an Edge 540 to try, but it also can’t connect to the Skillbike. On the other hand, phone apps (trainerroad, wahoo, etc… but not Tacx) connect to the bike perfectly fine.

Not sure why the Skillbike won’t connect via Bluetooth to the Edge 540. The Edge certainly has Bluetooth and connects to sensors using both Ant+ and Bluetooth. The Skillbike certainly seems sophisticated enough and connects to many devices. No doubt you’ve used “add a sensor” on the Edge. Perhaps a dive into the Skillbike’s manual would explain. I did a quick internet search and found this:

Thanks! Yes I tried all that many times, and Garmin devices just cannot find the Bluetooth connection (ANT+ is disabled by the gym, don’t ask me why)…
