Question about eFTP

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Intervals.icu, and first off, I want to praise the amazing work being done here—truly impressive! That said, I’m still learning the ropes and have a question: why isn’t my eFTP being calculated, even though I have an interval with 100%+ intensity (see screenshots below)?

Does the entire activity need to be at 100%+ intensity for eFTP to calculate, or am I missing something?

There is no power data. It can only calculate, if you record power.

Hi @R2Tom Thanks for the replay. True, I don’t have Power Meter but i thought the estimated FTP could be calculated based on other params like HR, gradient Intensity etc similar to what Strava does. Is that possible with intervals icu at all?

I think Intervals.icu consciously (is this the right word?) doesn’t estimate power because those, like on Strava, are wildly inaccurate. You need to consider so many factors that an estimation without them is basically worthless.
HR would not really be a factor in such estimation, unless you try to extrapolate previously know HR-power relations. As you see, it will give you a Threshold HR which is the HR equivalent of your FTP.
But even then your HR varies a lot based on stress, sleep, caffeine, time of day, …

Whilst your effort looks as good as it gets for an estimation, steady uphill, we still lack wind, draft, rolling resistance and surface, system weight, air density if you want to get real nerdy, …

I got a bike power meter just as a curiosity, and honestly it’s been one of the most impactful purchases for my fitness.
