Provisioning Intervals accounts for a club's athletes (minimal athlete friction)?

Hi David,

I coach a triathlon club (Charenton Triathlon) and I’m building a coaching app that generates structured workouts and pushes them to Intervals.icu via the events API, which then syncs to each athlete’s Garmin/Wahoo. That part works well.

I’d like each athlete to have a club-managed Intervals account, set up with as little effort from the athlete as possible ; almost none of them use Intervals personally. The app would manage each account via the API: sport settings (threshold pace, FTP, pace/power zones) and planned workouts.

The one thing I can’t do via the API is create the accounts themselves ; there only seem to be POST endpoints within an existing athlete (workouts, activities, sport-settings…), no account creation/registration.

My questions:

  1. Is there a supported way to provision/create accounts for a group of athletes (a coach/club creating athlete accounts, e.g. in bulk)?
  2. Or is the intended path a coaching group / coach access, where the club manages each athlete’s own account (sport settings + planned workouts) via the API? If so, does that need a supporter subscription, and can I set an athlete’s threshold pace / FTP / zones programmatically once I have coach access?
  3. For a club onboarding many athletes with minimal athlete friction, what would you recommend?

Happy to take a supporter subscription if that’s what enables the club/coaching-group features.

Thanks for building Intervals - it’s excellent.

Jules, Charenton Triathlon

I’m interested about the same, looking for free alternative to Nolio-like platform for small group of runners to have structured workouts week on week on their Garmin or other compatible watch so I’m interested if you can share some details here or via DM on your app  I’ll keep an eye on this post.
