Hi! I’m a female 62 year old cyclist. I lead a team of women cyclists from around the world: OWLs - Older Women in Lycra.
Currently my only option in the Power Profile is to select Female 50+. Having had 50-59 year old riders on my team, there really is a difference each decade.
It would be fantastic if you offerings for women cyclists were the same as they currently are for male cyclists:
M 50-54
M 55-59
M 60-64
M 65-69
M 70-74
M 75-79
M 80+
Currently, the oldest rider on my team is a USA Cycling champion…at the ripe young age of 77!
Yes, in fact in Masters racing there are 5 year age groups, which are about right, 10 years is too big a gap. The male profiles have 60-64 and 60-69 which seems odd, why not 60-64 and 65-69 which would make more sense? The same should of course apply for women.
What would be really nice would be to choose an age grouping that became the default for the power profile page.
I’m 80+, but there are only three of us in this category, so comparisons of my relative standing are meaningless. So, I use the 70-79 group as a standard to see how I am.
But to get that: go to the power page, which shows 80+ as a default; click on the M 80+ button, which shows More; click on More and choose M 70-79, which returns to the 80+ default; click on the M 80+ button and choose M 70-79, which finally shows the desired data. Four clicks to get to where I want.
And the next time I look at these data, repeat the same procedure. In any case, the M 75-79 group might be a better standard, but there is no such group.
And, as Steve says, M and F should have the same options.
It defaults to the group for your age … I will see what I can do about getting it to remember the last group selected instead.
When I first built this I removed groups that were basically empty so thats why there were less groups for women than men … Intervals.icu membership is 90% male. That also why it defaults to the 10 yr wide group for your age. In the beginning the older 5 yr wide groups were too thin.
