Power meter detection with BLE connection

I build up a second bike this month and started looking into using the gear feature on intervals to track usage, in the process I looked at how my power meters are being detected so I can filter on them.

For some reason my edge 1030 paired to my new bikes PM via bluetooth rather than ant+, vs my forerunner 745 paired with ant+ to the same PM.

In this screenshot from my last activities, my shorter commute rides recorded on my 745 with the PM connected via ant+ show the PM details are detected, vs my longer ride recording on the 1030 with a bluetooth low energy source type for the PM doesn’t get detected.

Older rides with my other bike’s PM connected via ant+ to the 1030 are detected, so the only difference I can see to cause the non-detection is the type of connection, based on my limited inspection of the source fit files.

That’s correct. BLE is showing less detail regarding your connected accessories depending on make and model. ANT+ always shows more info.
For power meters especially, you’re best with the ANT+ protocol. Some have very poor implementation of L/R balance in BLE.

Thats fine, but the fit file does still store basic data like the PM Serial and it would be useful if it is extracted and displayed when it does exist in the file. This can be seen in the device info sections of two of the fit files from my rides in the first post.
