Please add the gear column to the activity filter

Many of us put individual bikes in the Strava gear field. We can then track individual bike mileage for maintenance purposes. Adding this gear field to the activity filter would make this so easy, and I would think that it would be a relatively easy update.

isn’t there already a gear filter? I sort based on my bikes which David pointed out to me recently to track different PMs on each bike

There is a gear field that can be added to the columns. I have already added that to my activities report. There does not appear to be a gear field in the activity filter. I want to be able to select all activity records for a particular bike, then use the totals feature to add up their mileage.

I have added “Gear”. Currently it won’t work on the /power page. I still need to make some server side changes for that. You can use it on the /totals page to add up milage:

I tested your addition of the gear field to the activity and totals filters. Works perfectly! Thanks for the super quick response.

Garmin Connect allows more gear options. I use that to track gear usage. Others might too. Integrating that into Intervals is not a high priority from my perspective though.

I also use Garmin’s Gear “system”.
I’m a bit crazy. I also track mileage of my Bibs / jerseys and even individual tires. :- :yum:

Me too. Well not clothing, but tyres, chains etc.

In case anyone is looking for a simple(ish) system for tracking wear items on the bikes, I use ProBikeGarage (should be available on iOS and Android).

You define different bikes, add different components to them, and set different maintenance/inspection/replacement schedules for those parts. Makes it useful for tracking things that are time-based (batteries, etc) vs mileage-based (chains, etc).

It syncs up with Strava and bases wear mileage/time on the bike selected for the ride. To automate the process of ensuring that the proper bike is selected I use https://activityfix.com to properly tag the ride with the right bike based on sensor IDs on the bike (i.e. a speed sensor ID that’ll be unique to each bike).

Thought it might be useful for some, so @David doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel.
