Training is going well and I’m feeling pretty solid heading toward one of the most iconic cycling marathons out there. With Kühtai, Brenner, Jaufen and Timmelsjoch lined up, it’s a route that really earns its reputation and deserves a lot of respect with it‘s 227km and a total elevation of 5500m.
If anyone has early impressions or local insight on what the weather tends to do around that time, I’d love to hear it. Just kidding.
Who else was lucky enough to be selected? And how is training going?
Timmelsjoch brings back some very happy memories from my early youth. I’ve been several times on holydays with my parents in Mittenwald (GE) and Mayrhofen (AU) when I was 10-15 years old and we did some quit impressive hikes in that region. I remember there was a ‘Hiking passport’ that you could fill up with stamps from all the cabins at height to get a medal!
But hey, that’s almost 50 years ago… I’ve never cycled around over there (wasn’t into cycling at that time), so maybe I should get that on my planning somewhere in the next few years.
Enjoy the ride man!
