I would like to make a non-recurring purchase/payment to intervals.icu as opposed to a subscription.
I don’t really care about any of the subscriber features.

I’ve always paid a one off annual amount to support @david and Intervals.icu. Has this now changed to a subscription service? ![]()
Only option I see is X currency every 3 months
You could be right…I’ve lost track of all the subscription services I have signed up for ![]()

I’ve just checked in my Settings and looks like I pay a one off annual fee of $48.00 per year with next billing date in January 2025. That could be in Pounds too, not sure. @David could clarify.
That’s not an option I have either. Only option is to pay quarterly.
@david Do some people have yearly subscription option and others don’t? I can’t find any way to pay annually like @Adam_Plummer does.
I would imagine that the option to pay quarterly or annually is made when signing up. Perhaps the way to see the option is when not subscribed. It works currently, so no need to change it.
If you cancel your current subscription you will remain a supporter until the current expiry date. Then you can re-subscribe and choose an annual amount. If you immediately cancel you will remain a supporter for a year. So you can make a once off payment by subscribing and then cancelling (@pffate) . Thanks!
Intervals.icu targets a subscription model because it’s quite a thing (cost and expertise) to store and process all of the data. Also I am going to be “retiring” from my day job towards the end of the year and working on Intervals.icu full time. Then development will accelerate.

@david Do I infer from this that you are thinking of moving away from an annual one off payment option to more of a monthly subscription model which would fall in to line with many other fitness & health platforms that charge in this way?
Yes. It has been a subscription for a while now with choice of every 3 months or annually. Every 3 months is just to reduce the impact of processing fees which are quite a bit for a $4 subscription and less percentage wise for 3 x $4 = $12 payment every 3 months. Paying is still optional. There might be premium features at some point.
Thanks David, still amazing value for what Intervals.icu provides.
Absolutely agree. Thank you David for such a great platform.
@david It looks like it’s been over a year since you posted to this thread indicating that you were trying to force a clearer definition for those that wish to subscribe to your service. I agree that you’ve done a fantastic job on our service, but to maybe give feedback of one user, I really use Strava and Garmin as my day in and day out workout vehicles for tracking.
However I will check your front end for my workout data, but I will go months before opening it. I wouldn’t pay the annual subscriptions fee for this particular value. Also I understand your statement that somebody can subscribe and then immediately cancel, but to most people this is horribly counterintuitive. It just doesn’t make sense to tell somebody to subscribe and then immediately cancel. However I would be delighted To have the option as an individual to pay a one time fee to contribute toward the cause. I think you could keep your current donation front end but then have a small shell out to the ability to do a one time contribution to the side.
By the way I have spent most of my life in high tech Both in business and in engineering roles, and I’m very familiar with cannibalization. So I do understand that offering a one time payment fee could cannibalize your annual subscription fees which is highly undesirable. Ideally what you would do is play around with different front ends to see how the end users responded to the various prompts. But since you’re basically a single man dev team, you probably would rather just focus on making the best possible product that you can. Which I highly appreciate and you’ve done a fantastic job. So feel free to ignore my request.
Thanks! Intervals.icu really does have to be a subscription service. We are now a team of 2 (+ a part time data scientist) soon to be 3 (+ds). You can’t make those kind of commitments without knowing future revenue. This is to the benefit of everyone who has invested their time and energy in this platform. It isn’t just me anymore which is really important.
We are going to continue to grow the platform, keep the free tier and add more premium features to encourage people to signup.
Makes sense. Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
I’m a subscriber and I’d like to increase my quarterly amount because I’m using Intervals much more now than I did when I subscribed. I’m more than happy to contribute to further development of the platform. I haven’t found a way to increase the amount, though. Is it still up to each user to choose how much to pay?
