New FTP from todays E-Race?

Today I received that famous email „ Your estimated FTP has increased by 11w to 317w!“ but I don‘t understand why. It was a race over three timed segments. The last and longest one took me almost exactly 20min so I guess intervals.icu took that specific effort to calculate FTP. However, the average power (285w) over that segment was not enough to qualify for a new FTP… Puzzled…

It actually used 14 minutes from the first part: Intervals.icu

I have a long outstanding todo list item that I really must get done to show where in the activity this took place.

Good Morning David, thanks for coming back on this so quickly! And I must apologize for not putting the matter in the right words. My not-understanding of the inner works of intervals.icu is of cause anything but a „bug report“.
So what you‘re saying is that your algorythm is not bound to the classic 20min block to estimate FTP but can also use shorter chunks (with I guess an adapted factor to calculate FTP in place of 0.95 used for 20min efforts, which seems to be 0.935 in this particular case).
Having that info and its source displayed in the workout really sounds like a nice idea, looking forward to it!
Cheers
Hauke

You can change the minimum duration Intervals.icu uses to calculate your eFTP in the /settings page

Thanks! Still so much to learn about this site!

This is what I learned today:
“Estimated FTP is calculated by placing you on a power curve using a single maximal effort of between 180 seconds and 30 minutes. If your anaerobic (short duration) power is very good you might want to use longer durations to avoid over-estimating your FTP.”
