New fitbit api (Google Health) integration

Now that google have released the fitbit air, whoop competitor and are massively overhauling there health/fitbit api are there any plans to add this as a integration in the same way that whoop is?

EDIT: I guess my reason for asking is that I use the pixel watch 3 for wellness and some activity tracking. The new google health api seems to support more data fields, for example there seems to be currently no way of getting recorded swims out of fitbit but the documentation seems to suggest that the new api has some of this capability . This could also negate the need to use a third party app such as strava to get other activitys into intervals

I could be wrong but in the settings there is already a Google Fit integration. I’m not sure if there is a back and forth to Google from Intervals.icu in return to have say bike/run data from a Garmin/Wahoo device.

There never is. Intervals is not sending activity datz out, simply because almost no other platform accepts that.

It’s easy to do via API and some cron jobs or agentic access.

Of course it means you have high level analysis data in 2 places, but if you want to use the new Google health app for some reason over intervals.icu (maybe pretty graphics or the subscriber only decent AI analysis) then it would work.

So is the Fitbit Air now the best and cheapest fitness strap that can upload to Intervals.icu? I think we can assume that when Garmin’s version comes out it will cost more and probably not play as nicely with others.

That would be my question. Then daily resting heart rate etc. would upload automatically? :o

New Fitbit Air user here

I have connected Google Health in my settings. this night I was wearing the device and this morning I have RHR, HRV,Sleep Score, etc in the app.

I don’t see these values in intervals.icu tho. Should I do something or it just takes some time to fill these values?

As far as I understand it Google will discontinue its ā€˜Google Fit API’ by the end of 2026 (the one that can be connected to intervals.icu). Instead they released the all-new ā€˜Google Health API’, which to my understanding includes also more data points. Google Health API currently is not available as a connection within intervals.icu (please correct me if I’m wrong).

If you’re on Android, my app syncs Google Health data directly to Intervals.icu. It uses Health Connect, so feel free to give it a shot with the new Fitbit Air.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I’m on iOS

Sorry to hear that. App just supports Apple Health on IOS, if Google starts to sync data to Apple Health, probably this works.

+1, I’m also interested in getting the Fitbit Air to sync over a native integration of the new Google API and intervals.icu.

Let’s like the original post in this thread, so that it gets more visibility/priority?

Just to be clear, we are talking about connecting Google Health to intervals, not ā€œfitbitā€ ? Google Health API  |  Google for Developers

Yes exactly. Fitbit app has been replaced be Google Health for all Fitbits

I suspect the new Fitbit air will replace Whoop as a lot cheaper for majority of the data.

It would be so good to get at least vitals/wellness from new google health api into intervals directly.

Is that possible @eva ?

I don’t see why not  I’ll push this forward (no promises yet)

By the way, I think this is a ā€˜business sweet spot’ for intervals.icu. Intervals could break up the closed ecosystems of Garmin and the like, enabling an easy mix of different hardware vendors for the casual user (not having checked all the T&Cs though). I think Google is trying to move there, although their Google Health pro features currently require Fitbit hardware. Intervals ā€˜just’ needs a nice and clean beginner-level interface in a mobile app (like subintervals), some nice dashboards and a daily morning report, putting everything together from all the different platforms. I know this is as far away as it gets from where intervals started - but I also think this could potentially create some serious business.

Any updates on this @Eva ? Will we be able to select what gets synced? I would love to only sync HRV and sleep, resting hr.
