This shouldn’t affect the apps using ANT or BLE connection.
At this moment, at least for Edge xx40/50 devices running last beta firmware, a full screen alert is shown to inform the user when the BLE connection is not encrypted.
For native sensor connections, you can also see an open connection icon in the sensor list that informs about this condition for the affected sensors.
I think that providing this information to make the user know that the connection is open is enough to fulfil the requirements of this directive.
