Multisport as one event?

I see that the issue of multisport has been discussed before, but I would actually like the opposite: to have them as one event in the calendar and then analyze the different parts while in the event. This is like garmin connect handles them.

I don’t know if that’s possible or even wanted by many people. But I do swimrun, where you constantly change between running and swimming. This weekend I did a swimrun race with 21 runs and 20 swims. Needless to say, my calendar looks ridiculous.

The same event in my garmin connect shows up as one event in the calendar and then when I go to that event, I get an overview of all parts of the race (see below). Clicking on one of the runs/swims, I get details about that lap, map information etc.

Just some brainstorming:
Grouping activities where the end time of one and start time of another are close together might be an option?

This is a garmin multisport event, so in this case, they all come from the same .fit file. That means that the grouping part should be fairly easy.

Wow. I didn’t think beyond triathlons when I did multisport support. I will see what I can do.

As I said, maybe there aren’t that many people that do these type of events…

Let me know if you want a .fit file for analysis.

Me neither

I have made some progress on this. Is it worth showing total time/distance for each sport as well (like in the left panel of the calendar)? This isn’t deployed yet.

I added the per sport totals and deployed this.

I’m not seeing anything different from my multisport event today. It’s from a single fit file and still imported as 5 separate activities with no apparent link. I reuploaded since it originally uploaded before you said you deployed it.

I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding the change, or if something about this isn’t triggering it?

It only kicks in for activities with 6 or more parts. I thought people would prefer to see triathlons as they are now.

Maybe a switch for grouping?

I have added a “Group multisport” checkbox that will enable grouping for multisport activities with at least 2 parts. If this box is not ticked then grouping is only used for activities with 6 or more parts.

I also combined “Show deleted” and “Show activity source” to make space because those 2 are usually used together.

Very nicely done. I just finished a TRI today and it works fine for me!

Looks really nice! And the calendar is not bloated anymore. Thanks for the quick fix!

Don’t know if it’s an easy fix but could there also be the option to view e.g. HR and the map over the whole event?

Really like it! One small thing, the second transition does not show in the time summary. A bug?Screenshot 2023-06-26 at 16.42.19

If I may suggest, clicking on the time/distance could also link to the activity detail, not only clicking in the smaller icons below.

Oh, just realised that it seems the summary is supposed to aggregate the time spent in each type of activity… Would love to see the summary times of each individually, just like I see in Garmin, one followed by the other. If the goal is to aggregate per type, the sum does not seem to be accurate.

Intervals.icu displays moving time and not elapsed time for activities. So thats why the total transition time doesn’t match. You can do Actions → Settings and tick the “Ignore velocity data” box on the transitions to work around this.

I have made the summaries go to the first activity of that type when clicked.

Not sure if the last words were for me. But I tried to find summaries of the whole event. I see some stats in the black box (see image below). But if I click the black box, I get to the same activity as the red box, i.e. the first running leg of the race.

Is it possible to get an overview of the entire race, i.e. HR, pace, map etc of the whole event summarized somewhere. Like in the GC image in my original post, where you see all subactivities on the map? Maybe this is already implemented somewhere but I couldn’t find it by clicking around.

Sorry that isn’t implemented yet. Forgot to include in my reply.
