The New beta Firmware for the edge 1040 changes the the data Transfer Protokoll to MTP. Can I use that with intervals or is it better to not Update?
Switching to MTP affects how the device’s file system is accessed when connected to a computer, particularly for copying and pasting content. After the update, it will no longer be recognized as a mass storage device.
However, this change does not affect how the device uploads activities to Garmin Connect or third-party platforms like Intervals.icu.
Therefore, it is safe to update. In fact, I am already using the latest beta version without any issues.

if you’re using a mac, you will need to download Android File Transfer or openMTP (If I remember the name correctly) to access the device directly. (it won’t show up as a “usb storage” anymore after)
