Is it possible to merge several activities ?
Try to use this website FIT File Tools to generate the final .FIT file, it’s not possible to merge in intervals.icu or any other plataform that i am aware.
I have that on the todo list specifically to support dual recording wit h Zwift and Garmin etc. but it is quite tricky to do “automatically”.
@david , on a related note: For todays race I forgot my HR sensor:-o
(As this was my first race ever I account it as stupid beginners mistake;-)
Thus, I recorded GPS, speed, cadence, power, etc. with the Wahoo and in parallel recorded GPS (again) and HR with my Apple watch. I then created a merged file at gotoes.org.
However, I now have 2 activities in i.icu: One from an automatic merge of the Strava & Wahoo/Dropbox inputs into i.icu plus a second one from the manual upload of the merged GPX.
I would like to replace the Dropbox part of the first activity with the second one – but don’t see how one could do that. I’d assume that a manual upload would be connected to the Strava activity if that was “sole”, but I fear I can only delete the whole activity on i.icu, i.e., Dropbox and Strava simultaneously… not?
Or is there a straightforward approach to this?
As an alternative, could I somehow “infiltrate” the Dropbox activity data with the HR from the Apple Watch within i.icu? … asking although I a fairly certain that this is not possible …
PS: The race went very well nevertheless;-)
PPS: I did touch my max-HR, but obviously I cannot, and do not want to, assume the AW is 1:1 the same reading as the Sigma chest-strap sensor… although hI know it is pretty close in my case.
Congrats on your 1st race!
When Intervals.icu replaces a Strava activity with one from Dropbox etc. it keeps the name and a few other bits from Strava but all the data comes from the new file. So it’s not really merged. It just record the ID of the Strava activity so it can still do “View on Strava”.
You can try delete the GPX and Dropbox activities, undelete the Strava activity and then upload your GPX file. That should link it to the Strava one like Dropbox.
Thanks @david – I guess my question is how to do this:
As there is no sign of this Strava activity in the activity list…
Or is it a manual “Download old data” from Strava in the connection settings?
I think there’s another use case as well - sometimes the use of a Garmin device or Peloton will result in multiple workouts as part of one session. For example, on Peloton, one might do a 60 minute ride immediately followed by a 30 minute ride - that should be one session. Especially as more functionality gets incorporated into intervals.icu this may become a bigger issue.
So, an easier way of doing this that would not require automatic programming would be to have a “file merge” function under Activities > List view > [click boxes for workouts you want to merge] > Edit > Merge files.
Just an idea from a newbie! Impressed with the system so far in my limited use.
That would technically only be possible if both workouts are the same type and recorded on the same device.
Data from Run/Bike is very different and can’t be joined. Data from two devices for consecutive rides for example could have or not have R/L balance, RR stream…
Why do you find it so important to have them as one workout? I may be missing something, but I don’t see immediately a problem having 2 workouts on the calendar iso only 1 joined.
You can combine fit files that are similar enough outside of Intervals, FitFileTools will do that for you.
It might seem simple at first look, but there are a lot of caveats.
Have you tried to set the “Deleted” filter in activity List view?
Now I did – and with @david 's suggestions above it solved all issues.
Didn’t even know nor see the ‘deleted’ filter before:-o Thanks for the hint(s), all fine for me now
Cool. You can also do Options → Show deleted activities on the calendar page.
Hi MedTechCD. The use cases are the following: 1) if I do two Peloton or SYSTM or Zwift workouts back-to-back but want to unite them into one file so that I can have an accurate measure of 60 or 90 or 120 min power; 2) If I do a live ride outdoors and have a Garmin failure (definitely happens to me from time to time, and sometimes user-induced…) resulting in two workouts being recorded.
I do recognize that one can use the FitFileTools outside of Intervals. But having it within Intervals would be much more convenient (if using FitFileTools, one has to separately download each file and then unite them and then upload the unified file, vs what I proposed which would be super-easy). And, I would add, FitFileTools has already shown that it’s possible to do this.
Anyway, it was just an idea.
+1 on this.
i.e., A zwift Group Ride followed by a cool-down ride with a zwift Pace Partner.
That could count as a single activity, I guess.
It can make sense in some cases.
Or, if we could see a “Daily Summary” to visualize how much time we spent on each zone, like the weekly summary on each row.
Hi,
I am using a tool named Fitfilerepairtool. This is working well, but it is quite a manual process based on MSAccess. Would love to have an automated possibility. Most important would be to get speed/GPS-data/elevation from Zwift to put it into the Garmin file.

For saving fit format, a one-time donation is needed.
EDIT: If you want me to try it out for you before you donate, send me a downloadlink in PM with both files. I’ll merge them for you.
The “merge” activity issue seems to have worked great.
For some time, the activity saved in GarminConnect has been primary (over the activity from Strava).
What I mean?
Well, I record the same activity on two devices:
- Edge1040 - to keep all the features saved in the FIT file (e.g. alphaHRV, RespRate, RR/a1, Stamina, performance preparation, etc.),
- Zwift - as an application that controls the trainer and diversifies the training.
And now the issue is that once such two records were “merged” while retaining the features from “GarminConnect” and physical parameters from “Zwift” (length, profile, height (driving with PacePartner in SIM mode)).
For some time, the record from “GarmiConnect” covers the data from “Zwift”: /
Anyone know a way to restore the “merge” of two saves for the same activity (at the same time)?

Artur
Any update to this? Is it possible to merge multiple activities (e.g. Zwift ride that is also dual recorded on a Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, etc. head unit)?
Merging is tricky and I’m sure there’s lots of finicky users which would be a support intensive operation.
Having said that. The alternative would be just
Use HR from Garmin
Use GPS / distance from zwift
And crop / drop whatever is longer
Eg: Garmin records 1:00:05
Zwift records 1:00:00
Cos you know, they don’t sync as you need to press start 2 diff devices etc.
A great site min. for linking FIT files:
Combine FIT, GPX, CSV or TCX files for Garmin or Strava. Merge Heart Rate Power and GPS
It even allows you to keep multiple CIQ fields from Garmin files.
