Matched Runs similar to Strava (Feature Request)

One of the few Strava Premium features that I miss was Matched Runs. If you did a similar route (didn’t have to be exact but a relatively close match) Strava would group all the runs and and list them, as well as showing you a pace trend. I found it really helpful to see my normal easy run loops over time as an indicator of fitness, for example.

I know that you can manually do this with the Compare Activities tab. I guess this would not be easy to implement automatically as you need to match GPS data somehow?

I am going to look at this. Not sure how many GPS points I would need to have in searchable storage per activity. Fewer uses less space (important) but maybe more false matches. Maybe 4 points? 0%, 33%, 66%, 100% of the distance?

Thank you David! I’m not sure if I have beta turned on, I’ll check now and then take a look!

Great!
A nice addition could also be optionally including information about the conditions and terrain. For example: Sunny Gassy Ride or Windy ride across Tatra Mountains.

There is a route description field that you can use for that.

Hi David!

I ran the same route from last week and it pulled up the two runs on the route page. I really like seeing both the chart and the list of runs.

I also really like the feature to automatically rename the runs, that’s a great idea.

Thanks for doing this!

I haven’t gone back and processed older runs yet to get them matched up. How close do the two runs have to be to match?

Regards,
Anthony
