For athletes who are doing regular lactate and/or VO2 Max testing, would it be possible to add an option to enter our LT1/LT2 or VT1/VT2 power and HR as the metrics to set zones?
Create custom zones on the settings page?
Yes, that’s what I currently do. What I would like to be able to do is have an option, like we currently do to enter FTP and Threshold HR, where there are fields available to enter LT1 or VT1 Power and HR, LT2 or VT2 Power and HR, once these values are entered you select if you want 3 zones, 5 zone, 6, zones, 7 zones etc…
You can create custom wellness fields for these to track them over time. But you will need to calculate the training zones yourself.
It would be very interesting to be able to configure the zones we want and not rely on something “standard”. For example, why work with zones at a percentage of submaximal values when with a power profile test and the ability to set the first threshold we can work with more “physiological” zones of the athlete? My system of zones is based on a base range of first threshold extracted with our system, where we get an optimal range by looking at the behavior of breathing parameters and hrv. Then we can draw zones from MMP 3 min, 5 min, 1 min, 15 seconds. This would be ideal to be able to set the zones to watt range just like you can do with heartrate.
Knowing that the zones are not prescriptive training, with this if they could be and combined with the heartrate would greatly adjust the external and internal load to the athlete and we would always work with very specific and personal zones, if in a race improves your p3 just have to change that value and or modify nothing else.
You have 9 “zones” showing, and currently the max number is 8.
It is possible to custom set ones, and rename them, but… they will remain Z1-7 + SS
I used your example to setup 8 zone (Z6 being from Glycolytic 1 to 2
I know it’s not exactly what you want, but it’s close (SS is used as a zone, and not overlapping)
Thank you for this Luisma, you very eloquently articulated the reasoning and logic that is behind my request.
Thanks @Gerald , I have it as you have put it, the idea was if it could be modified as for example Golden Cheetah that you can configure the zones you want, also it seemed interesting to me to be able to configure the zones also by watts as is done with heartrate.
Topic bump.
Still triggered by this chart provided by @RIDUCK .
Especially for Z1 rides, the (calculated) LT1 value is interesting. But also the LT2 value how it relates to your threshold values from testing.
Ps. The chart above isn’t up to date as I don’t upload data to Strava anymore @david would be nice to collaborate with @RIDUCK
Nice!, would be a great addition to Intervals.icu
