My indoor Load scores on my Wahoo smart trainer provides a very low Load score compared to my Outdoor rides. For example, with a one hour 2 minutes Indoor ride with average HR of 86% of my maximum HR (with a variability of 1.19) records according to Intervals a load of only 58 and an intensity of 74%. Can that be correct? Outdoor rides are scored relatively much higher Loads
Your indoor rides with power will have correct load so long as your FTP is correctly set. The model for the HR only outdoor depends on your resting HR, threshold HR and max HR being correct. I had a look at your data and you hit your max HR very frequently which means it is probably set too low. You can see this if you click “Options” on the fitness page, then charts and add the max HR chart:
Intervals.icu has clipped your HR on some of your activities for going over max: https://intervals.icu/activities/4002150181
Intervals.icu also thinks your threshold HR is higher than you have set. Thats what the HR marker here means:
You need to edit your HR training zones in /settings. Go with 161 for LTHR, click re-calculate then edit the max to say 185 (bottom right hand corner) and tick the “apply to all rides” box. It will take a minute or so to update everything. Then you can go back to the fitness page and see what your max HR actually is. If you get 185 have a look at that ride and check that the HR data looks ok. If so bump up your max HR some more.
Getting your HR stuff right will reduce the load calculated for those outdoor HR only activities.
Hi @david
I think I’ve the same problem. Indoor activities reports quite low “load” compared to outdoor. I’ve made a proper FTP test indoor and outdoor (indoor is 5-10% lower, as expected), and my HR and LTHR thresholds seem correctly set.
Can you help me to understand why the load is so low?
eg Intervals.icu, also Intervals.icu
Thank you!
