Hi, newbie here .
Load data results from Strava/garmin connect are similar (165/162) but very different in Intervals (103) ?!
It’s a up & down running workout.
What’s wrong ?
Thank’s in advance
Philippe
Please post a link to that activity. Intervals.icu has several different ways of calculating load depending on the activity and your settings (from HR, power, pace etc.).
Hello, thank you for your answer,
Here is my Strava workout:
Garmin Connect:
Tx. The Intervals.icu load for that run has been calculated from the HR data using HRSS and the number looks “good” (103 for a 1h17 run is 88% intensity which is reasonable). This is designed to produce numbers similar to what you might get from power data for the same activity (TSS formula). In general a 1hr max effort should get you load of about 100.
I don’t know how Strava and Garmin calculate their numbers (165 and 162). They is clearly not on the same scale as TSS.
Intervals.icu tries to get everything on the same load scale for power so activities without power are comparable to those with power.
Ok thank you.
Is it possible to apply (implement) a coefficient to get closer to the Strava / Garmin scale ?
--------- edit --------
No no no forget, I doubt it’s possible, I run yesterday in competition and the data are very different for the three platform:
Strava: 638
Garmin: 433
Intervals.icu: 326
Thank you for your job, Ive just begin with Intervals.icu since 10 days and I’ll probably stay with you
Me again, I think I’ve found the problem
In web app, Strava don’t show the load but " effort measurement" ( 638 for my last race)
In iPhone app, “analyse” at the end of the page there is a data called "workout load and number is 317
Impossible to find this data in Strava web app !!!
Intervals.icu show quasi the same value 326
I‘ve a „Training load“ number in the overview on every activity – in the Strava website…
In the iPhone app, analyse, at the end of the page, it’s a different value. In French “charge d’entrainement” is training load, and I don’t find this value (317) in overview page for the same activity !
.
Apparently needs a power measurement to compare reliably to FTP –> https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216917147-Strava-Training-Glossary-for-Cycling – for running like something similar;-)
Yes for cycling but not for runing
The value exist but not shown in web site (see capture)
Different calculations for load are circulating. Garmin Connect isn’t using the standard TSS neither. TSS as used in TrainingPeaks, Intervals and several other apps is most used but Golden Cheetah for example uses TriScore. Garmin uses something else, don’t know what. It is a different way of judging the impact of the load. Each their own system but in the end they all make some sort of Power Management Chart that gives you an idea where you are in terms of Fitness, Fatigue and Form. A different way of calculating load will give you different values for CTL/Fitness, ATL/Fatigue, TSB/Form.
So those numbers are not simply transparent across different apps.
