Event:La Marmotte Date: Sunday, June 28, 2026 Location: 38520 Le Bourg-d’Oisans, France Sport: Ride
Anyone else here doing this? My training was going well until this week. Now I have calf strain somehow and walking isn’t good. I can ride (easy pace) but I need to be able to lug bikes and bags through airports. Physio says it should have recovered before I fly on the 11th.
I planned holydays about one month later in the same region. I’ll be south of the Annecy lake and the plan is to ride some of the climbs around there. But nothing as hard and as long as Marmotte
Hope you will be relieved of the calve strain by the time you get there. But that off course screws with the preparation training for such an epic Granfondo. My advice is to keep moving, both riding and walking, but avoid high stress on the calves. Keep the blood flowing, but don’t exert high force.
I am, along with a few club mates and associates, at least one of whom is on here. Looking forward to it. I last did it in about 2012 and now I know a lot more about riding and training. Big training weekend in Brecon Beacons 10 days ago, 900 TSS in 4 days and seemed to survive ok. Nor it’s back to regular training, with a 5 hour ride as my weekend ride in early June. Fingers crossed!
Ahh such a pity, I was planning to do Marmotte this year but family plans made it impossible, will be doing Maratona dles Dolomites the week after for the second time. That’s also a really nice event!
