Intervals.icu contributed to an Olympic gold 🥇

I just happened to notice that Anna Kiesenhofer, who today won the Women’s Olympic Road Race, seems to use intervals.icu in her training (see the screenshot): https://twitter.com/AnnaKiesenhofer/status/1411359208524726274

I was hoping someone would notice  Totally awesome!

It is even on Eurosport

Soo cool! How did she measure her internal body temp? That sounds like a nifty thing to have haha

She uses the “CORE” sensor: https://corebodytemp.com/

You can hear about it on this podcast: https://x3training.com/endurance-innovation-77-core-body-temp/

You are perfect, thank you!

CORE sensor is quite interesting to me (because I seem to lose a solid 20% of my output when it gets too hot). Anyone know if it’s possible to add it in as a sensor on something like TrainerRoad / Sufferfest, or is it a standalone thing?

Would be interesting to see it merged with my usual activity trace.

I know you can connect to a Garmin device just like any other sensor. Core data then gets written to the FIT file. Here’s an example of trace (not my data I’m afraid, yet to persuade my wife that Core is another useful investment  )

Apologies. Just realised this doesn’t answer your question.

I’m starting to wonder if I should try and find a way of recording to the Garmin at the same time as TrainerRoad / whatever as it appears to be able to do a chunk more (HRV / CORE etc).

Wouldn’t know where to begin though.

I often do that. You can just run your bike computer and have it paired to your power meter/trainer etc and record while you run Zwift/TrainerRoad/etc. (You can have your devices paired to multiple things simultaneously.) Then you can upload the .fit file directly to intervals and use the Actions > Settings > Ignore (Power/Hr/Time) on an activity to avoid counting the activity twice in your training load.

I use it for Zwift to avoid loosing wamups before events. But it also gives me metrics Zwift doesn’t record, like temperature and L/R power balance.

Thanks, I guess arguably I could turn off the sync in TrainerRoad etc and just use the Garmin file instead for TrainingPeaks etc.

Did anyone screenshot that Anna Kiesenhofer tweet with the Intervals.icu screenshot? Unfortunately it has been deleted :frowning: Would like the momento at least

I think she was bringing in core temp as THb. I am going to add support for plotting arbitrary record fields from .fit files soon to avoid the need for that kind of workaround.

Wayback machine has it! Anna Kiesenhofer auf Twitter: "Playing with the CORE body temp sensor as part of my prep for Tokyo. Many questions remaining re heat acclimation. Most striking for me is how much time I spend in the "heat training zone" (>38.5°) during normal rides in cool conditions. Is this really a heat stress for the body?… https://t.co/R3mmUuNKgI"

I think this is the actual image from the tweet: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E5YntoQX0AICMg_.jpg

Thanks! I didn’t know Wayback machine covered Twitter.

Wow. This is awesome!

I wish she had been allowed to start the TT as well.

Think I remember listening to a podcast about Core and they spoke with Wahoo.
Currently there is no support for body temperature so they pair as a blood oxygen sensor until then.

The tweet was referenced in an article by Rouleur yesterday also - which is a nice side link  Anna Kiesenhofer: the mathematician who beat the odds – Rouleur
