I have been observing a strange affliction on “Strava” for some time.
Well, spontaneously, without my participation (so I thought) changed the type of activity from virtual-ride to walk. Then the map, the elevation disappeared from the activity.
I corrected this manually by editing and changing it to “ride” after which virtual-ride was restored.
But yesterday I found the cause of this phenomenon
Well, it is … “interval.icu”
This happens when “interval.icu” consolidates two records of the same activity (Zwift records and syncs with Strava, but my E1040 also records activity due to DFA/RRa1, ride dynamics with all the surroundings, etc. and syncs GarminConnect).
Both Strava and GarminConnect sync with “interval.icu”.
The light mechanism implemented by @david prevents duplication of the same activities and therefore GarminConnect “covers” Strava.
And here is the clue of the matter
When I correct such a consolidated activity in any way (name, comment) then on “Strava” there is the problem described in the introduction.
Huhhh, to make things more interesting, for several days Strava does not allow … change the type of activity from the level of editing the activity (the fields are grayed out, blocked for selection!).
For now, I get around it by going to the “My activities” page and from the list of activities, I select “Edit” on the right side without going into the activity itself and change the activity type there. So far it still works
I wonder what “interval.icu” sends to Strava that it changes the activity type to … WALK
