Hi,
Are there any plans to integrate with the Concept2 logbook for rowing training? I can log on-the-water sessions using my Garmin Fenix 7X, but doing so whilst on the erg isn’t a great solution. Direct access via the Concept2 API would be a much better workflow.
Cheers,
Ben
P.S. LOVE the site - just discovered it and already loving it!
Just for your information: The indoor training software from www.icTrainer.com also offers a connection to Concept2 and synchronises all workouts, or training results with Intervalls.icu … maybe that is also an option.
You can connect your ergometer directly to you Garmin watch with the ANT+ FE-C connection and sync through Garmin Connect just like any other activity.
Another option is linking the Concept 2 Logbook to Strava and send the activity to Intervals.icu through there. You will need to be a financial contributor to Intervals.icu to do that in the near future due to the Strava API limitations.
in that case I’d have to connect the rower to icTrainer? Or can I still use the Concept2 app, and have those workouts sync to ictrainer and from there to intervals?
I have a Concept2 Rower and SkiErg at my gym, so I’m already using their iOS app on my iPad mini (which is nicer to read than the display on the PM5)
Unfortunately you have to connect your Concept2 Rower to the icTrainer and then receive the workouts from Intervals.icu via this way as a workout-of-the-day (the training results are then sent back to Intervals.icu in the same way).
In this case I’ll probably stay with the Concept2 app and just hack together some sort of api connector to grab the fit files from Concept2 as I’m not “planning” those rowing workouts at the moment anyway. I just do the WOD from them when I’m there
In that case you could take a look at RunGap or HealthFit to link the different services together.
Both sound interesting but seem to need the app running to sync and are payed services.
Automating that on my own Server between just the two APIs is both cheaper and doesn’t require me to run anything on my phone, apart from the Concept2 app.
I would also appreciate being able to import activities direct from the Concept2 logbook into Intervals.icu.
I have used strava in the past to get concept2 activities into intervals.icu, currently trialling fitnesssyncer.com.
I am also waiting or keen to see this c2logbook integration. Now I need to download my rowing activity from logbook and upload it manually to intervals.icu to get it there.

One detail worth adding/mentioning in the context of this thread: I’ve discovered (on my Garmin 955) that although you can connect to the PM5 using the ANT+FE-C connection on the indoor rower (RowErg), and get all of the stroke-by-stroke power/distance, etc., this method does NOT give you power on the recorded activity in Garmin Connect when using a SkiErg, despite the fact it also has an identical PM5 monitor, and all of the same provision of power data. I assume this is due to some daft metadata/filtering on the Garmin side; it sees that the device is not a RowErg or BikeErg, and so decides not to bother storing/recording the power data in the saved activity. This also corresponds to the fact that there is no inbuilt “Indoor Skiing” activity on Garmin watches.
Super frustrating, as there is no good reason why the Garmin shouldn’t just connect and store power data from the SkiErg as well. I assume the only way to fully record power data from the SkiErg and get into into the various platforms is via the ErgData app and a slightly circuitous route.
Yes, I noticed the difference in behavior when connecting my Garmin with the BikeErg I was recently using.
At this point I am just glad it works with the RowErg because there I use meters and stroke rates to do my workouts. So I want those to be in the file as well. On the bike only (moving) time and power will do just fine for me.
Although I definitely feel your frustration about the differences between the machines.
I have almost a same issue when a do my SkiErg , im using ErgData (app) , and in the same time Garmin Watch ( a way i don lose my data) ; So the ErgData with Power/Hr etc… will send the file to Garmin , so now i have 2 files (from the ErgData and Gamrin Watch) ,
but the Garmin dont take the Power/strokes etc… so i delete the file from Garmin and continue with the File from Ergdata
Now the Question: Why or its possible, this file from ErgData uploaded to Intervals.icu automatic? (when sync , not only from Garmin)
Through Strava maybe?
Or use HealthFit or RunGap for it.
I will get Concept2 integration done eventually. They do have an API.
i dont no RunGap , but Starva get some errors.(activity Type) - @david You mean uploaded direct frm concept2 to intervals.icu ? You already tested with Ski? ( no duplicates, one from garmin another from concept2?)
If you could post a screenshot of that Strava error I can probably fix it. Also if you can please email me (david@intervals.icu) a Strava link to one of your Strava rowing activities. I just need to know what Strava is using for the activity type.
Starava is the same as Garmin , so i prefer Garmin , wherer i can have all my activities , full edit , and see by segments ; I dont use (stop using) strava , and afraid to start again and have Duplicates
Hey David, Intervals.icu is awesome and a fantastic alternative to TrainingPeaks, etc.
Are you interested in getting any help other dev(s) to build a Concept2 integration? I’d love to be involved, if possible.
Hey Tom , if you send sync with Garmin , then sync with INtervals.icu i think works - i desatctived my because i receive too many double workouts( Bc i rowing with garmin and concept2 same time)
