That’s gonna be really huge thing for those users who use both Intervals.icu and IndieVelo.
And for those who don’t, this is quite encouraging and temptating to start using both platforms.
I’ve been doing my workouts mostly on Zwift and without a calendar, but this IndieVelo update is forcing me to think about timing and recording my workouts on the calendar.
Just tested, it is working fine. My only problem is that I realized I was using FTP% and it was not synched with Intervals.icu Other than that, everything was good.
In my case the power target are lower than planned: for example, 4x10m@200w are set to 185w in the featured workout 🏋🏼‍♀️ n Indie velo. Even with customised zones…
Anyone has this issue?
indieVelo just looks to a folder for workouts, so should be pretty simple for someone to write a script, or even maybe it can be done by using the Dropbox sync.
Will take a look at it myself when I have some time. I rarely add new workouts to my library so I just do it manually currently.
“Lastly, I asked how this might impact the relationship TrainingPeaks has with other (every other) online training platform today. They said all existing partnerships remain and that “we very much and firmly believe in an open ecosystem”, going on to talk about how TrainingPeaks as a platform loses value the moment TrainingPeaks starts to limit who can upload to/from the platform.”
It looks like TP training calendar integration is going to be headed to iV - if this is the case, it would be great if we could sync our iV calendar to TP. I can’t stand the TP interface and much prefer intervals.
I think what TP might do is hide things like Intervals.icu from people logging on to indieVelo using TP credentials. Would be crazy to give indieVelo to all the TP users just to introduce them to Intervals.icu. Existing indieVelo users would see things as they are now.
It’s too bad you & George didn’t combine. Much more likely to work than where IV went. Not to jinx the TP-IV deal, but tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of what those of us in the M&A business call “a direct comp”: Wahoo pulled the plug on RGT on Oct. 31, 2023 – just a year and a half after closing the acquisition.
Whilst I much prefer intervals.icu, you have to be realistic about what has happened - TrainingPeaks have made George a VP and he is recruiting a team to develop the platform further, include a complete graphics rewrite. I don’t think that would have fit with intervals.icu.
The most we can hope for is that they maintain an open approach - but seeing as all activities will always go to strava, there’s no reason analytics cannot be done here forever more regardless, and getting intervals.icu workouts in to TPV would also be childsplay even without a direct sync.
AFAIK, TrainingPeaks still has a vision of supporting coaches and their athletes. I believe TP will continue to embrace the ecosystem, and not force a single solution on anyone as that would not support coaches.
