I feel almost sad to ask this, as auto-detecting intervals is I think where Intervals originally got its name, but… I personally don’t really have any use for the intervals, and when I’m viewing the charts on an activity, all I want to do is manually select portions of the ride / workout to analyse. But quite often the auto-detected intervals get in the way and I end up dragging the edges of one of them instead of making my own selection.
Is it therefore possible to turn these intervals off, either within the activity view or as a general setting?
While we’re on the subject, and note this is more of a long-term suggestion / aspiration than a short-term feature request, I think it would be good to integrate some of the insights from the Activity Power view into the charts view. For example on Trainer Road you can follow the power chart and then see at which part of your workout you achieved the PB for that duration. See Trainer Road (one of the apps I’m currently unsubscribing from) for example.
Not entirely sure if this suits your needs, but you can have intervals.icu respect your headunit’s LAP settings. if you have your head unit to NEVER lap, then within intervals.icu, if you set it to “always use laps” then it will use the entire ride as 1 lap (respecting your headunit’s settings)
You can do this in a general way and per sport on the settings page.
If you check both boxes, only the laps from the planned workout and the lap button presses will create intervals.
Thanks @MedTechCD and @app4g. I have implemented the “use laps” feature which I assume will apply to rides from now on.
Sorry I wasn’t very clear on my second suggestion, poor choice of words on my part when I said “PB”. What I meant was simply the power PB for that duration within that particular ride. So for example you can instantly see in a race when you did your top 1 minute power. The connection would be between the activity chart and the power chart for that activity, not your all-time or season best power chart.
@MedTechCD its possible on workout, dont count or “ignore power” for PB /records , but in the same workout select a specific interval for count Power as Pb/Record ?
Sorry for my English. In activities like rowing or skiing, I often do intervals — for example, 2 minutes work with 40–60 seconds rest. Intervals.icu automatically calculates and combines these work+rest segments and sometimes shows them as my ‘Best 10 min’ or ‘Best 20 min’ efforts. I’d like to exclude these using the ‘Ignore part’ option. However, in the same activity, I might also have a real ‘Best 2 min’ effort that I don’t want to ignore."
