Hi - i’ve recently signed up and started training for a Hyrox so am undertaking more Hybrid style workouts that involve run/station/run/station - i was wondering is there anyway that this can be integrated as a workout type.
At the minute it is coming in as a run and i am able to carve out the run intervals and the station intervals but the average pace calculation appears well down as it presumes the station intervals i am resting as not gaining much distance.
It would also be handy to categorize as Hyrox Workouts to be able to compare against previous/future workouts to track progression.
I had a look at your Oct 7th activity and the fit file says running/treadmill (https://www.fitfileviewer.com) so that will be a run on Intervals.icu. Intervals.icu handles other multisport stuff (e.g. triathlon) by breaking the activity up into a separate activity for each sport. That wouldn’t work well here.
I see you have the laps nicely labelled, did you do that yourself?
Sorry i totally missed this reply - yes i broke that session down myself - it’s quite easy to see when the runs stop and the stations begin. These runs were done on a treadmill with my Garmin Chest HRM calibrated to pick up run pace through stride data and i just hit lap on my watch after every run and station, It’s grand for tracking the HR but quite manual to break it down into the laps like this, and the load figure is a bit skewed as it’s logged as a run so doesn’t really take into account the work on the stations, unless i use HR Load, which again is a manual task.
Manual lapping is definitely a bit of a chore during high-intensity sessions like that. Using HR Load seems like the best workaround for now to ensure the station work is actually reflected in your fitness totals, though a dedicated profile would be much better for tracking specific Hyrox progress over time.
When I did HYROX, I recorded it as a virtual run on my watch. For lapping, I only pressed the lap button at the start of each running segment so I could track my running splits in real time. I didn’t bother lapping the other stations since knowing those times mid-race wasn’t particularly useful to me.
After the event, you can pull your exact split times for every station and run from the HYROX website, so I just went back and manually updated all my splits in intervals.icu to match.
A dedicated HYROX activity type would definitely be welcome, though I’d imagine that’s something Garmin would need to add on their end first?
