HR reserve - %Power chart

Your work is awesome, and the platform is amazing tool for monitoring the training process, based on contemporary science! Last year I studied dr Steven Seiler work, which opened my eyes to the new approach in training - before I was mostly in threshold hole, become overtrained, and now I want to dedicate a lot of my time to Z1 training (3 zone model).

So, I really like this diagram you made based on dr Seiler video.

Now, can this range for power on the right hand side be adjusted (max 100%) for Z1 indoor endurance ride, since power won’t go over 100% (specially for ERG mode workout). I think that then I will have perfect overlap of the curves :smile:

You probably have a Power spike over 120% somewhere in your ride because it is auto-scaling if you do higher intensity efforts.

The main purpose is to quickly see if the traces diverge or not and by how much. It is, as far as I know, of no importance to have them on top of each other. Is your demand simply ‘cosmetic’ or does it have an importance?

Well, I think it should match each other, as close as possible. I mean the ratio
%HR reserve / %6min Power (% eFTP)

should be close to one, so maybe that can be shown instead (or additionally). When it starts to deviate afterwards (HR over power), it means that fatigue enters the game.

About the power spikes: I didn’t have any, since I used ERG mode. I could agree that my demand is just cosmetic, it is also debatable that the ratio is equal to one for every person.

Tx. Intervals.icu adjusts the power scale % range so that the traces begin overlapping and then diverge when (if) decoupling kicks in. So that 120% might be different depending on the ride. I am not sure why your example isn’t overlapping.

Based on your answer, I think I found the solution :-)! It is connected to the slider position, i.e. the time range from the first diagram, power/HR over time. Two hours ago I finished indoor ride - steady state power for 40 minutes.

Default analysis - I guess, based on the interval (40 minutes) - default slider position, I had this picture

Now, with slider movement:


So, everything is like charm now… At the end of the ride I cannot have the same ratio power/HR (reserve), red line is above.

Once again, great work, I’m definitely changing my “status” to supporter :slight_smile:
