Hi everyone!
I recently started exploring Intervals.icu and I’m impressed by how much it can do. At the same time, there are so many charts, metrics, and settings that I know I’m only scratching the surface. The forum also seems like a great place to learn from people who use it every day.For those of you who’ve been using it for a while, was there a point where everything just started to make sense? Was it learning how to read the fitness charts, planning workouts, tracking progress over time, or something else?I’d love to hear what helped you the most when you were getting started. Looking forward to learning from everyone and joining the discussions!
The best starting point are the ‘Getting Started’ topics in the forum’s Guide section. All the basic topics are addressed there.
Most of the default charts in Intervals also have links to external sources with more info on their purpose.
The whole subject of Training analysis is complex, very scientific and it takes time to learn the more advanced stuff. The basic principles however, should be understandable in a relatively short time.
Practice makes perfect. I’ve been with Intervals from virtually day 1, when it was just a tool to analyse intervals, and over the nearly 7 years I’ve seen things recently that I wasn’t aware of that were implemented months and years ago.
In addition to the reply from @MedTechCD I would also recommend learning how to use the advanced search. We often see people asking the same questions that have been answered before. Depending on your needs, try search for keywords, and see what happens.
In all honesty, I’ve been here for three years. Still don’t get it.
Interval’s main GUI is a convoluted mess of options and tweaks. Perfect data gets f*cked up, and improvements needed for other sports aside running and cycling are completely missing (force curve???). And the forum’s are no help here.
I am a rower, we have/had a great platform to analyse data, but it is migrating to this place. Like moving from a well-kept villa to a fixer-upper with decades of neglect. Nothing works like it should, despite promisses from David to accomodate rowing. We are 8 months on our way and just 4 months away before RowsAndAll shuts down, and nothing has improved. As package maintainer of OpenRowingMonitor I am going to implement Plan B. This environment is in no way suitable for either novices or rowers.
You have your specific problems and issues, and you have been posting them on multiple topics that are only very slightly approaching something similar. Just to get attention. I refrained from responding on the last ones because I don’t want to start a pointless discussion.
I consider your remarks out of place because you should not generalize a niche issue to the entire platform.
I can understand that you’re not happy, but this is not the way of handling it. It’s not Intervals’ fault that your former platform stops activity.
The number of regular users on Intervals is increasing year by year and, yes, there still are a lot of things that aren’t perfect, and some even really not good. But there are 10’s of thousands users very happy with the versatility and flexibility offered by Intervals. At the same time, this flexibility is often a source of confusion for less technical users. But everyone on the forum tries to do their best to guide them through.
You clearly seem not happy with Intervals and you do have a Plan B. I suggest you roll out your Plan B.

Thanks for all the perspectives. It’s actually reassuring to hear that I’m not the only one who felt a bit overwhelmed at first. It sounds like the learning curve is pretty normal, especially with a platform that has so many features. I’ll spend some more time exploring the advanced search and older discussions since it seems like there’s already a lot of helpful information available.
I also appreciate hearing the different viewpoints. Every sport has its own needs, so I can understand why experiences vary. For now, I’m going to stick with it, keep learning a little at a time, and hopefully things will start to click as I use the platform more.
