Apologies if this has been asked before (I’ve not seen anything when I searched honest!). For various reasons I think my cadence has increased over the past 2 years and I’d love to see this validated. Is there a way I can see my cadence for all of my rides as a table, graph or other data summary?
Many thanks in advance.
I’d use the compare tab, create a custom chart with cadence in with a rolling average or monthly average and perhaps filter by indoor/outdoor.
Could also switch to list view on the activities page (home) and make sure cadence is a selected column, can then save as csv
And there’s also a simple cadence graph you can add to your Fitness page. If it’s noisy you can make it calculate a moving average.
Though what I’d love even more is a histogram of cadence over time to see how the distribution changes…
Many thanks. I’ve now confirmed my cadence average is up from <70 to >85 after (1) swapping from 170mm to 160mm cranks and (2) focusing on high (>100 rpm) intervals for the past 18months!
Shorter cranks will in most cases result in higher cadence. It has to do with hip impingement. Hip angle at top position will be wider quit significantly because shorter cranks not only reduce the vertical displacement of the knee but also allow you to raise your saddle. In your case that is a difference of 20mm! And if you had problems getting over the top of the pedal stroke, your leg rotation will now be much smoother.
