HiiT activity type not syncing from GC

Late last year Garmin added the HiiT activity type to Fenix6 watches. They load as HiiT in GC and sync to Strava seamlessly as Workout activity type. However, I noticed that with Intervals set to sync with GC these activities are not being created. They do sync when Intervals is syncing from Strava.

When I try to manually upload from GC, I get the following error message uploading the fit file,

  • java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index 0 out of bounds for length 0

However, it accepts the tcx version.
