Help with Open Water Swim on Garmin Forerunner 255

Hi, I’m hoping someone might be able to help me out. When I create an Open Water Swim training event on intervals.icu, I put in my planned workout, i.e. distance, rest period

However, when I then go into my Garmin Forerunner 255 to start the workout, it only appears as a pool swim and not as an open water swim.

Am I doing something wrong? I feel it could be obvious but I can’t figure it out.

It’s not a huge problem, I can still do the workout as a “pool swim” but it doesn’t allow me to use GPS if the watch thinks I’m in a pool. Wondering if anyone else has had similar problems or knows a fix?

Garmin does not allow me to build an open water swim workout in Connect. So it likely won’t allow one to be pushed from intervals.icu.

My suggestion would be to use the intervals option within the watch UI.

When you start OWS, press up, select Intervals, select Edit, and set up the workout in there.
