Hello,
I recently selected the GC syncing option but I do not see any workouts being downloaded to INT. I have double checked all is connected. Is it just slow? Basically I want to move away from Strava and have GC supply workouts to INT.
They should come through within a few seconds (like 10 maybe) of uploading them to Garmin Connect. That said Garmin sometimes have issues that cause web hooks to be delayed. I see you have an activity from Garmin Connect on the 2nd (today) so it seems to be working now?
Hi David and thanks for replying. Today was a track ride captured by my 830. As predicted, Strava included my pause time while I was on quick water breaks.
What I was really hoping for was my TR rides to go to GC (which they do just fine) and for GC to send them to INT. If that works I’m done with Strava.
Am I out of luck? Will only activities captured by a Garmin device be sent to INT?
Yes unfortunately around April this year Garmin stopped sending activities from non-Garmin sources to Intervals.icu (and other similar apps as far as I know). I did ask for this to be reversed and didn’t get a response.
Last quick question and no rush to answer. I’m still determined to use INT as my only repository or activities I care about. Here is my scenario:
I use TR to supply a daily ride. That ride can be easily synched to GC. I have an iPad using TR that has control of my kickr. If I also record that ride on my G830, the ride will appear on GC as recorded by the 830 and then make its way to INT.
My question is; do you think my 830 can start a synched TR ride AND also put me into erg mode thus controlling my kickr. If not I can just record the ride to TR by their app and to GC. oh the hoops I have to jump through just to ditch Strava lol
I can alway conduct testing of course, just checking if this has come up before and if you have knowledge. Once GC downloads all activities to INT, problem solved.
are there still problems with gc? tried to upload trainings to 2 accounts, my own and an athletes profile - but can’t find them in the gc calender. maybe i missed to check some connections?
Ty for helping. What I’m hoping for is that if I select ‘training’ from the 830 and I see the uploaded TR workout - after starting it, will the 830 just see my self selected power, or does it put me auto into erg mode
If TR has control, that’s ok, I can let the 830 see my ANT+ signal and TR can control me by BT.
Just looking for the most efficient pathway to INT while complying with TR. Low priority and only for those interested and the puzzle solvers
I intend to try and solve through trial and error and I’ll share my results
According to the Intervals.icu logs your test workouts were successfully uploaded to Garmin Connect. No errors were reported so they really should be there.
You have to pair your trainer as a FTMS trainer on the Garmin 830 and then it will control your trainer. If you have a power meter on your bike, the 830 will prioritize the power from the power meter but will NOT use it to correct differences between trainer and power meter. Edge 830 can’t do Powermatch. So if you have both and there is a considerable difference in power, it can be confusing.
If you only pair the sensors from your trainer, the Garmin will record all data without controlling your trainer. That’s what you should do if you want TR to control your trainer.
Check the following menu in the Garmin to pair your trainer as a controllable trainer: Select Training > Indoor Trainer > Pair ANT+ Bike Trainer
TR app → TR workout → TR Control Trainer (ANT+ or BT) → Execute workout → Save into wherever
830 → Connect to Trainer (ANT+) as power meter only (no control) → Record the workout → Save and upload to GC → auto to INT
so basically , run both at the same time. TR controls your Trainer. 830 just acts as a recorder (just like when you ride outdoors)
