Garmin Connect Elevation Issue

Hi,

I prefer to sync my activities from Garmin over Strava as it is easier to see swim workout data.

However, my run workouts seem to have incorrect elevation despite using the elevation correct on Intervals.icu as I use a Garmin Forerunner 735XT which doesn’t have a barometric altimeter sensor.

The elevation appears correct on Garmin Connect using their elevation correction and on Strava using their elevation correction (If I sync the run from Strava it will also appear correct in Intervals.icu). However when synced form Garmin Connect it is always incorrect?

Any idea how this can be fixed or what combination of settings would fix the elevation when syncing from Garmin Connect?

Thanks!

In addition to this, if I try to sync and reload the activity from Garmin Connect then it says that Analysis has failed.

How are you checking the elevation? You need to add the “Fixed Alt” chart to see the corrected data. This stream is used for gradient and also GAP. Here is a screenshot from your last run:

I should probably make “Fixed alt” the default display.

I have exactly the same issue importing my data form agrmin connect and using Forerunner 735xt for running sessions.
I have configured “fixed Alt” as default chart, and seems more accurate than Altitude that is not correct at all. However, I still see a huge difference in the total elevation gain calculated in Intervals.icu in comparison with “garmin connect calcultation” or even more with strava,.

For example, in my last 20m threshold workout that I did in a very flat well known circular circuit, I got 174m of elevation in Intervals.icu that result in a GAP much faster than my real pace and not realistic. However in strava the calculated total elevation gain is just 8m that makes more sense to me…
Is there anything missing in my configuration so that intervals.icu correct the elevation gain and the calculated gap becomes more realistic?

IIRC this was supposedly fixed (or as fixed as it could be).

The thing w elev is that it’s pretty fickle. ESP when you have a baro that’s influenced by weather. Then topo maps that isn’t that updated or outdated or just xxx.

(There’s a thread about this fixing that was attempted and there was some amount of agreement between elev between the diff sites)

thanks @Nik_Om_Cinderella_Ri for the feedback…
Mi Forerunner 735Xt does not have barometer, so I need to trust the elevation calculation done by Garmin connect, strava, or intervals.icu.
I was wondering, if I synced my intervals.icu with Strava instead of Garmin connects as I have it now… would the elevation calculated by strava be imported in my workouts in intervals.icu??
If this was the case, I would consider changing the sync to strava, that seems to be the more accurate calculating the elevation gain.

Nope. Each site takes the raw file and then does its (own) calculation of the elevation.

In your case. Since there’s no baro. I presume that it will default to use the topo map. So it depends how good it is
