Garmin attribution requirements

Garmin now requires partners like Intervals.icu to indicate when data may have come from Garmin devices. There are now attribution notes in various places like this one on the calendar page:

If you are using the Intervals.icu API you will soon need to do the same if you display or use data from any Garmin devices. More details all be added to the API pages soon.

Can we name the Devices somehow correctly?
Like my “Garmin 4536” → “fēnix 8 – 51 mm, AMOLED”

edit: ok, please ignore - just saw your update on this in another Thread ^^ … so Fenix 8 should be shown correctly soon!

Thanks for the info.
What’s the point of Garmin’s requirement? I’m having trouble understanding?

I see this in the fitness chart:

I had no Garmin device, so what’s the reason for this?

If you are a Garmin partner and a chart might include data from Garmin devices then you need to indicate that. For the fitness stuff it is tricky to know that no Garmin data has got into any of the plots so safer to just add a general note. Even if you currently do not have Garmin connected you might have in the past.

Interesting. Not I am aware of. Could be some indoor training apps which are faking a Garmin device to support upload to Garmin connect or something like this. Hopefully there will be no more limitations in future (like Strava API), that would be bad, as I am not using a device of them (and not used any), but their terms affect me.

Can you tell more about the intention of this? Sounds like free advertising for Garmin.

I hope it is just that. Garmin has always been very good with data access even for small projects like Intervals.icu was originally.
