Form is always too high or too low depending on settings

I finally got back to training after some time away in early November. When looking at the fitness page, my form is always either in the gray zone or the red zone depending on whether I view it as an absolute value (always gray) or a percentage (always high risk). My fitness is relatively low (just finished a base phase in TrainerRoad a couple weeks ago and am now into a slightly harder second base phase) and I’m not doing much volume (3 days/week, 210 minutes total), does that account for the issue?

You kinda have two options: 1. listen to what the graph is telling you (you’re jumping back into training too quickly); 2. ignore the form metric and see if it catches up with your training in ~6 weeks, but in the meantime you could be putting yourself at risk of injury.

My experience has been that actual fitness drops off way slower than the model because I’m usually doing stuff that maintains my general fitness but isn’t captured by the model as activity.

I’m back to a more structured training after a more or less layoff during the autumn.

I now see that after most of my workouts now the form drops down to high risk zone, but mostly is back to optimal zone before the next workout.

But I wonder how reliable is this? If I adjust the workout intensity to keep the form at optimal, is the physical form also optimal?

It’s probably not that reliable. Your fitness on the chart is probably an underestimate of your real fitness because your aren’t really starting from zero.

That all makes sense, thanks!
