Enhance Activity Assignment to Gear with "Calculate"

It would be great if the Calculate function assigned gear retroactively to activities that don’t yet have any gear assigned—provided they fall within the gear’s active timeframe.

Example:

  • I added a new piece of gear (touring skis) with a start date of February 9, 2024, and set it as the default for “Backcountry Ski.”
  • After saving and using the Calculate function, no past activities were assigned to the gear, even though I have multiple backcountry ski activities within that timeframe.
  • Interestingly, when I assigned my bikes yesterday, the activities were correctly synced. (Guess because they already got synced from Strava)

Idea for Improvement:
Perhaps Calculate could ensure that activities without assigned gear are automatically linked to the relevant gear if they fall within its timeframe & Filter. This would improve consistency and make gear tracking even more useful.

It’s not a calculation though. At most, this would have to be a separate function. If put on calculate this would make things much worse for me.

And you can very quickly do this from the list view. You can select all activities with no gear for a time range and set the gear on all of them at once.

As noted by MedTech, you can also just re-analyze the activities to get the automatic gear additions.

That could also be problematic if you have multiple pairs of ski´s or multiple bikes for similar activities.
Guess I´m not really with you on this one.
