If I login with an outlook-account I don’t receive a message to confirm (an my inbox or my spam-filder) . If I use a gmail.account it works fine.
FYI It was not in the spam-folder…
Depending on the system and their spam processing, not all messages make it as far as the user’s spam/junk mail folder. Some will alert you of blocked messages while others just reject them at the mail gateway/filter, which is likely the case here if it’s tied to an IP subnet range.

That mails can be blocked by Microsoft - they (may) rejecting mails from icu domnains. As I understand davids post correctly, MS isn’t good at doing a good spam detection …
I think it will work if you first register with a gmail, open the confirmation mail, and then change your mail adress in Settings.
You will however not get the mails for gear, season bests, etc.
