Concept2 integration now available

Intervals.icu now has direct integration with the Concept2 logbook. Click the “Download Activities” checkbox in the Concept2 box in /settings:

This will download the last 28 days of activities. Once you have connected you can use the “Download old data” button to retrieve your complete history.

“SkiErg” activities become “Virtual Ski” activities on Intervals.icu (a new activity type). “Virtual Ski” has been added to sport settings for anyone who already had “Nordic Ski” configured.

Activities added using the “Add Workout” form in the Concept2 app are downloaded but they do not have much information (date, activity type, distance, duration and comments).

Activities from Concept2 will replace matching activities from Strava.

Remember that you can also get rowing activities from Concept2 via Rowsandall, along with advanced rowing analytics, virtual regattas and other features. Rowsandall can also download activities from Intervals.icu.

Rowing is not a huge sport but it is in desperate need of better integrations, data analysis, and modern training plans - especially at the non-elite levels of the sport. Intervals.icu is just such a good platform for getting rowers into more structured and scientific training and this integration makes it even better. Big thanks from me for your efforts, David!

As a Concept2-User, I always had a bit of a hassle to get my data correctly imported to intervals, so these are great news! I‘m excited to try it out in the next days!
Thanks for the integration and keeping up the great work!

I just started using the SkiErg for some off season workouts away from Swim/Bike/Run, so the timing here is unreal.

As always, intervals continues to be the one :pinched_fingers:t2:

This is great, it looks like it also works for the BikeErg from Concept2 as I can see an activity imported for it.

do you guys already used this import? I asked because before this when i imported to interval.icu my activities from Concept2 , C2 “cut” the time when is “rest”

Please post a link to an activity with the issue and explain the issue in a bit more detail, maybe with some screenshots. Tx.

I think I had the same problem as you.
I programmed a fixed interval session with 1 minute rounds and 0 seconds rest in between, and it seems that the power and cadence goes down to zero in between these “breaks”. Even though I’m constantly rowing.

I’m also experiencing an issue where my athlete’s historical workouts on the Concept2 Logbook are not making it onto the activities calendar (new workouts after the connection is set up works :+1:.) This is after clicking the download data option and after a green textbox confirms that it is downloading the activities - they just don’t ever get on the calendar.

Could you please message me a link to that row. Tx.

Please message me a link to the athlete. Tx.

Here we go: Intervals.icu

The textbox says it was downloading two activities, which should be from Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The feature has worked for other rowers I’m working with though!

The file from Concept2 has zeros in it along with zero cadence, so Intervals.icu doesn’t automatically fix it. From fitfileviewer.com:

I am not quite sure what to do about this. How do I know to interpolate out the zero?

The athlete has only “Rowing” in the activity types in the Concept2 box. These come in as “Virtual Row” so that needs to be added as well:

My bad, thank you for investigating and explaining.

Hmm, good question… Maybe if it’s just one point, you can set it to the previous value.
If not, I guess we just have to fix it manually.
Going to have to try to do some intervals with longer rest periods to see if all rest periods are set to zero.

Yes please give that a try. If longer “rowed” rest periods have data, except for a single point, I might be able to put in a Concept2 specific hack.

Hello, thank you for your work!
I have the same problem described above: when I try to upload the workouts from concept2 log, it appears the green banner with the right number of workout (132 i.e. from may 2020 to end of april 21) but they don’t appear on intervals.
It’s just a matter of time or did I miss something? thanks

It looks like it did work. The earliest on is 5h Nov 2020:

Thanks for sending me that file. The 1 point zero power, cadence and velocity gaps are now automatically filled in with the previous data points. I also added a fix for some zero cadence with non-zero power points.

You need to reprocess old files to fix them if you haven’t already done that manually.
