Can't roll back an activity type

Hi David,

I accidently have changed the type of the activities bellow from Ride to Virtual Ride and now Intervals does is not allowing me to change back to Ride.

Hmm it seems Strava is not allowing that update (Virtual Ride ā†’ Ride). I have poor internet right now but when I am back home tomorrow I should be able to fix this.

Is there any reason why someone would change a Ride to be Virtual Ride on Strava? The easiest way for me to fix this is to keep existing activities on Ride even if Strava says Virtual Ride. New activities from Strava would still get Virtual Ride, just not existing Rides.

Depends how we see Virtual Rides.
Currently my activities tagged as ā€œVirtual Rideā€ are the ones uploaded directly from Rouvy to Strava but maybe I should also tag the workouts (erg and slope) I do using Golden Cheetah that are uploaded to Strava via Garmin as such.
How are Zwift rides tagged?
Nonetheless all Virtual Rides are indoor activities as well, right?

Indoor rides = Rides w/o GPS
Virtual Rides = Indoor Rides w/ Virtual GPS Maps (like Zwift / Rouvy / BreakAway)

In Strava, indoor rides w/ GPS are tagged as Virtual Rides so that this does not interfere with Actual outdoor rides which has real Strava Segments. Hence, its basically just comes down to being a good citizen (to me).

If not mistaken, there is not such distinction for Garmin Connect Uploads. They only do Indoor Rides.

Ok. If an activity is ā€œRideā€ on Intervals.icu and Strava says it is a ā€œVirtualRideā€ then it will stay as ā€œRideā€. So if you do change a Ride to a VirtualRide on Strava you will need to repeat the edit on Intervals.icu. Will deploy Friday AM (GMT+2).

I didnā€™t get it.
It was ok that Strava tags activities with Ride and Virtual Rides and I wish Intervals continue inheriting that.
Take my workout from today. Itā€™s was an Indoor activity and was synched by Garmin and Strava tagged it correctly as a Ride.
But I rides a make and sync using Rouvy should remain as Virtual Ride.
What happened was that I wrongly changed an OUTDOOR activity as a Virtual Ride and this is wrong.
An outdoor activity can be a ā€œRideā€ but never a ā€œVirtual Rideā€.

The issue is that Strava doesnā€™t allow an activity with type ā€œVirtualRideā€ to be changed back to ā€œRideā€ and Intervals.icu keeps its own type in sync with Strava.

So the change I have made makes it possible for you to change an activity from ā€œVirtualRideā€ to ā€œRideā€ on Intervals.icu even though Strava will remain on ā€œVirtualRideā€.

Have you already applied the change because as of now I could not change an activity from Virtual Ride to Ride.

I just checked and your two example VirtualRideā€™s are now Rideā€™s so it is working now I assume.
