Cannot display W bal chart on fitness page

Hi,

I try to display the W ball chart in the fitness page but the chart is blanck or flat with different units on the X axis

Did I miss something ?

Have you copied your W’ number over from your /Power page (PDC) to the W’ J value in your /Settings page?

You also need to make sure you have W’ set on all of your activities. The /settings page value applies to new activities.

You can do this on the activity list (calendar page, the click list icon):

Or use the bulk update:

Very useful, just done myself as well!
@Olly_Thomas - interesting I have the exact same eFTP (but with 2kg more) and my W’ is significantly lower … only 17400.
You got me curious to explore the topic further and learn what it really means and if/what can I do!

@david

I update the Wbal in the Setting as well as bulk edit all my activities since januray 1st with the W ball value I set in / setting, and my W ball chart is still blanck or flat with whatever X axis I set .

You have the W’bal drop selected for the plot on the fitness chart.
If you go to activities list view and add the column W’bal drop, do you have any numbers in that column? Those are the numbers that should display on the graph you set up.
If you’ve never been above FTP, there has never been a W’ drop and the plot remains at zero. It is very unlikely that this is the case but you may have a FTP setting that is completely off??

Here are the chart of one activity , the list view activites and the thrid chart from the fitness where i add a custon chart for W bal

My ftp is set to 210w, and i regularly above my ftp.

indeed in list view ,m the wbal is empty.

It is still unclear to me what you want to plot…

  • W’ bal as the value you have now and want to follow up on (W’ column in list view)
  • W’ drop as the value you have used during your workouts (W’ bal drop column in list view)

In the first case, you have chosen the wrong value to plot. You need to choose W’ and not W’bal.

In the second case, you have choosen the correct value but probably you need to recalculate all workouts since there was no W’ entered before. “Reprocess original file” or “Re-detect intervals etc.” to fill column W’ bal drop.

I think I misunderstand W ball, w ball is only used for an activty, is it correct ??

So in my fitness page , i set the following chart for W and W Ball : is it a good way to play W and W ball in fitness page ?

The W’bal depletion number is useful to identify hard rides.

W’ is the value of work you can do above FTP in KJ. It is calculated from the PD curve.
W’bal is the balance of what you have used during your session or what is left in the tank. If W’ bal goes to zero, you should be exhausted and can no longer continue to work above FTP.
Knowing your W’ allows you to design structured workouts where you go to failure approximately at the intended moment.

Thanks for the links, they explain very well.

Should I use the W’ from the last 42 days or from the season? The two numbers are very different
