Hi,
I see this has already been asked and answered but…if one had a custom field and the script said
if activity.type = “bike” then activity.type = “ebike” would that work?

No that doesn’t work. LOL! On Strava you can use autofix to change it.
Changing the activity type would require analysis to be re-done so it won’t work in scripts. You could do it using the API.
Are you wanting to make a one-off change, to historical rides?
I can see some use for it. Before I had my Coros watch, I was running with my Garmin Edge and an IQ field for running on it. But Garmin considers the Edge as a dedicated unit for Cycling , so you can’t record an activity type that is outside the cycling scope. I always had to change the activity type after it downloaded.
I’ve been doing a clean up of my data, since the tabs were introduced to the list view. I found that some rides were incorrectly marked, as well as gear allocation, so started making changes. Lots of combinations to filter with, so it makes bulk changes much easier. Also picked up, and removed, duplicates from previous manual uploads.
I’m now going back to creating a profile per bike in Garmin Connect, as I have more variation in my rides (Road, MTB, Gravel, Virtual).
I’d like it happen automatically each time a bike activity is imported. Actually, its not so important on intervals. On Strava, if I don’t change to ebike, it looks like I’m QOM on everything and that will make the analog treadliers cross. But I’ve figured out how to change it automatically on strava.
