Can I see Summary Data for a sub-section of an activity?

As per the title really.

I’d like to split an activity (it is marked as a lap on my Garmin recording) and see the summary data (as per the data you see for the whole activity) for that section of the activity only?

Cheers in advance.

You can make the “lap” and “interval” and then add fields (bottom of activity page) to that interval to see a summary. It might get you someway close to what you want see.

E.g.

If you really want to split, use the ‘Crop’ function. Import the same file a second time and crop the other part if you want to keep that one too. Crop keeps the visible part and removes the rest.

Thanks. I can’t get it to “list” the interval, maybe because it is 39 minutes long and contains all the other inetrvals?

Cheers, I think I have to crop it in Strava first to do that. I think it will work, but I was hoping for a simple way so I can do it repeatedly.

Don’t really understand…can you post a screenshot?

This is the activity…

and this is the subset I want to look at…

It shows the correct interval length over at the far left, but it doesn’t appear on the Interval Data list and the Intensity for example is not correct. (Must be less than the whole activity as I’ve chopped some low power stuff out).

Not sure I follow still sorry - I’m missing something. But I would think you need to delete all your current “intervals” and add a new “interval” using the “a” key for the duration you want and then use the fields to get the data on that interval specifically. Not sure if that will solve your use case in this instance.

That makes sense, but a faff to delete all the other intervals.

I just want to be able to easily look at a subset of my activity (most of it in this case) and look at the data for it.

I’ll leave you guys alone now - thanks for your input.

Its easy to get rid of all intervals…

Activity > Actions > Clear Intervals

No worries, we are here to help

You could just mark that bit of the activity and see the data at the top left corner of the charts (I hope this is what you mean), regardless of the intervals

First, I guess you probably mean that the selection intensity should be higher because low intensity stuff has been removed.
Caution with this! The summary data at the top excludes stopped time (100% sure for speed/pace calculation), while the metrics for the intervals include stops and pauses. You can check that by selecting the whole activity and compare the selection figures with the summary figures.

I had a similar question a while back. In my opinion you have two options, 1) to crop the activity in Strava and re-upload it, with the disadvantage that you “lose” the cool down part of your activity. Alternatively, and this doesn’t work in retrospect obviously, you can 2) always end your activity as soon as you cross the finish line on your Zwift race and start a new activity for the cool down.

Thanks Caramba. I had come to the same conclusion.

I also then realised that Zwiftpower gives me the NP for the race and I can calculate IF from that figure (and these were the stats I was looking for in this instance).

It would still be a very useful thing for Intervals.icu to allow.

As @Kosio_Varbenov mentioned, if you highlight the section you want to review, it will zoom into the “interval” data you want to see. The summary appears on the top left of the screen.

It will retain the intervals already highlighted on your activity, but exclude your cool down section.

If you want to see it in the table format, then mark the final section as one long interval, from when you pushed lap, to the end of the ride. This will then show all your work/recovery intervals and the final long recovery. Here’s an example of a race, where it was racing for two hours and then a 1h24m ride back to the start.

Thanks. I have half sorted this. I “cut” the recovery out and it is showing the data now for the race part of the ride. However, it looks as though for the Intensity data field, it divides the average power by FTP - when IF =NP/FTP. This was one reason I didn’t think it was working.
