Can anyone help me to understand how to get the average speeds based on the ride time and NOT the elapsed time?
In the top you can see the average speed at 30kmh which is based on moving time and not elapsed time. I want my intervals to be based on moving time and not elapsed time. How can I fix this?
Just as with Power, speed is averaged over elapsed time for intervals, thatās by default.
There are user created Custom fields to give you Avg speed for Moving time or even a Equivalent speed which calculates an average per distance covered. That last one is a speed averaged over distance and is a much more valid speed metric. Who cares about an average speed influenced by lots of climbing/descending? Equivalent speed takes that in consideration.
For intervals speed averaged over moving time, use this:
Ok, I understand. Iāve tried to use the āāaverage speedāā field but itā still not working. The Equivalent speed is not visible to me. Any thoughts to why itās like this? There are no issues when looking at the same activity in Strava or Garmin.
That one seemed to do the trick for me! Thank you for the help. Really appreciate it!
I wonder why Intervals has this as a default when Strava and Garmin does not? Seems a bit strange that coffee stops etc should affect the data.
Itās also a bit strange that you could ride 300w for 20 minutes, then have a 2 hour stop and ride another 300W for 20 minutes, which would result in a 40 min 300W achievementā¦
What it comes down to, and what every respectable platform does, stops do influence the data and you should not try to hide that.
