I would like to be able to track the usage of my gear and be able to automatically associate with indoor/outdoor activities. Garmin and Strava gear trackers are super clunky and don’t allow you to automatically track gear use across multiple bikes - only manual editing of each activity. If intervals allowed you to automatically filter via indoor and outdoor it would be awesome!
Indoor outdoor is already implemented. You can set up gear in the sport settings
Thanks for pointing this out. I have those set up and selected but I don’t see where the individual activities get categorized and associated with either indoor or outdoor … help?!?
I’ve been zwifting for a year and it says I only have 22 rides on my indoor bike! More like 222!!!
In every workout there should be a checkbox if the workout was indoor or not. For Zwift I guess it wouldn’t automatically toggle that if the fit file categorises the activity as trainer.
This is the Manual Update Pop Up.
If youre talking about it being classified automatically as indoor or outdoors, for me, it works automatcally, but likely cos the workout is
- autoamtically uploaded from my BreakAway: Indoor Trainer App
- it’s a workout which was created within Intervals.icu and I specifically label it as a Virtual Ride (which would translate to indoors)
Possible Zwift rides are not marked as Indoor Rides? Are they marked as Virtual ride or what is the default when it gets uploaded to Intervals?
In the fit file standard there is an activity type „virtual ride“. If intervals reads this and zwift sets it correctly, all should be well
Thanks for the response. I just took a look and it appears that my workouts from zwift DO get categorized as virtual and DON’T associated with my indoor trainer! All my settings are as they should be for that to happen …. Weird. Even weirder, when I go in and manually edit them and save and then come back, they revert. Weirder. Ideas?
I just had a look at your settings and you have a Spez set for default and indoor gear for riding?
Actually, I had my default set for my wilier Zero 9 but was playing around with the setting and forgot to change it back … typically it has been:
default: Zero 9
Indoor: specialized
I also have this issue, although from TrainerRoad rather than Zwift. I, like you, have a default bike set for Indoor Rides but all rides are being assigned to my default bike.
Best I could figure out was that the Strava > Intervals pipeline was somehow overriding the settings in Intervals. My solution has been to use the third party Strava app Activity Fix to automatically switch all indoor rides on Strava to my trainer bike. This change then syncs over to Intervals.
Glad I’m not going crazy … great solution - and plenty powerful for other uses. Thanks.
I tried downloading a couple of your rides and uploading as “mine” on my laptop. The “Virtual Ride” fit file ones work i.e. they get the trainer flag and correct gear. The tcx ones do not. The sport is just “Biking” and I can’t find any indication that the ride was virtual.
Thanks for looking into this … I know that a couple text rides were recently in my feed from my Garmin vivoactive … and I manually fixed some of the rides over the last two or three weeks when I noticed the problem and reported it to the forum. If you take a look deeper into my feee - say fall 2022 - that might reveal the issue.
