Apple watch workouts

In the coming Apple WatchOS version, We will see support for third party apps to create workouts for the built in workout app.
Does anyone know if we somehow can use intervals.Icu to create such workouts?

I’m also curious about this! I have a Garmin Enduro 2 and an Apple Watch Ultra. Being able to send intervals.icu workouts to my Apple Watch might be a deciding factor in which watch I keep…

It seems like it should be possible, as TrainingPeaks will be able to utilize the API.

I am hoping that the developer of the HealthFit app (which already integrates with Intervals.icu) implements something.

I want to do this… but w/o access to an Apple Watch, I don’t have much clue how to get this work started.

Why doing this by HealthFit? As I understood it would be possible to push workouts directly to apple from intervals.icu like it is implemented for e.g. Garmin connect.
Is the Api already available and documented?

As far as I am aware you need to have an app running on the phone to push workouts. I don’t think there is a “cloud API” that Intervals.icu could connect to. If someone knows otherwise please let me know.

Far as I know and understand. It’s up to an APP on the Phone to do the translation / structure / plan and then push it to the watch.

As far as I’m aware, you don’t actually need an apple watch to develop for it. You just need a apple computer and a development environment. The XCode app can add a target for the apple watch and emulate how it will appear / function. I’m not too sure of the other details as I don’t own a mac.

Definitely having an apple watch to see the implementation on hardware would be very useful, correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think it is a hard requirement.

most of what you say is correct. I can get it to the point where it shows the workout is “ready to send” But that doesn’t mean that it will send to the watch.

I cant test the connectivity, not whether it gets parsed properly(eg: If I did the reps in the correct way) and such TO the watch.

There’s not even the apple fitness app in the simulator environment. So yeah…

Oh right, that makes life difficult doesn’t it… You’d like apple to be a bit better to their developers, you’d think there would at least be an apple fitness app to check that.

I have an apple watch and would be willing to help you test some of this stuff if its possible with a dev build or something, I’m not entirely sure how to go about that but let me know if thats something you’d like to try. I’m currently on the the released public build of stable WatchOS so I’d have to get on the dev build.

Tx for the offer… I will contact you when I embark on this… currently working on Automatic Pairing of Gears on Garmin Connect…

Is there an update to this topic?
I contacted the HealthFit developer whether a workout import from intervals.icu and push to Apple Watch native workout app is possible/planned. Will report once the developers reply.

It’s worth exploring if intervals.icu can sync workouts to your Apple Watch via its API, especially if it influences your decision between the Garmin Enduro 2 and the Apple Watch Ultra.
