AI Training Systems

Hey Rune,

Thanks for checking us out. While we don’t yet have a sprinter plan in circulation for our cyclists (low demand), I actually have a template design for it that I’m keen to work on. If you’re game, jump over to the Athletica forum and DM me there and maybe we can work something out.

We have just released version 1.0 of our power profile analysis so we can see gaps in your profile relative to the demands of your event. Here’s mine.

Best,
Paul

Hey Paul,

Thanks. Here is mine. I’m super psyched to see that there might be some room for improvement. I’ll message you as soon as I become more trusted by the system.

Best, Rune.

Latest release: Recovery Profile charts updated with improved HR/HRV analysis. At this point in time analysis is only available for those using the Garmin Connect system with a device that captures nocturnal (sleeping) HRV.

I’ve been testing several of these apps for a while now and they all make the same mistake, they don’t really end up personalising the training. They don’t take into account the profile of the athlete among many other things.

The profile of the athlete is the first thing we take into account.

When I tested it (it was at the beginning of the release) it didn’t take that into account or at least I couldn’t see it, anyway not all athletes have the vt1 in those percentages, would you put the same vo2max work to a sprinter than to a climber? This is what I mean. I’ve seen platforms that have put vo2max sessions on sprinters that have left them fatigued for a week. But if for example you calculate my VT1 at 82% of my FCmax, those sessions will be tempo sessions as it is well above my heart rate at vt1, I have made several calculations with my athletes and they would be overtraining at that intensity.

Indeed, that release is still in beta. The technical challenge of individualizing these zones is real. But we’re getting there. Here’s an example for one of my athletes that just came through on my coach account after a session. UI/X needs improvement but you can see how each zone is being considered. We think this will be rolled out to all within 2 weeks.

Of course to your questions we are well aware of the different prescriptions and we teach these nuances in programming for free here.

After analysing a lot of athlete data I have generated several algorithms that I am improving little by little where I estimate the vt1 both in watts and pulse and a value called eMSS which is a steady state (not FTP/CP), tested with ultra distance athletes.

Regarding the vt1 that you calculate you could give it another approach and I’m sure it would be closer to reality.

I will try the platform again.

What does the platform offer with the coach version?

Very cool @Luisma_Gallego_Soy_P. Would love to know more.

The coach version is simply an athlete management version whereby you can manage multiple athlete accounts on Athletica and communicate with your athletes (text or voice). You can create your own sessions, move/edit/delete AI derived sessions, view charts, etc. The idea behind it is to enable coaches to use the AI to help them generate adaptive plans and for coaches to focus more on athlete relationships, soft skills, and all the other key aspects that facilitate successful performance outcomes (belief, buy-in, etc).

Does the Workout Wizard allow manual workouts? And if yes does the plan then adapt to it, both in the days before and after? In the YouTube video you said that it will give you a different workout with the same load.

Background of the question is that come spring/summer when the weather is nice I will go ride outdoors on routes I plan (mainly planning nice routes with new climbs, I’ll be riding zone 2 on flats, tempo uphill) which will obviously mess around with weekly loads.

Hi @LennK,
The Workout Wizard does indeed provide different workout options of a similar load that are related to your physiological profile. Please see the blog that describes these features. Currently we have options for different durations, intensities, session variety and injury. We are continuing to iterate on the options for users and we can expect more options to show in coming weeks.
Remember that Athletica always allows for the inserting of manual workouts. You can add these below any session using the large (+) symbol and you have the option of saving these to your library for easier insertion the next time. The load is calculated an included in the adaptation algorithms. This happens for indoor and outdoor workouts, and works whether or not you do or don’t do the session. It also picks up unplanned sessions.
Hope that helps.
Best,
Paul
