Activity list shows only default Strava bike under "gear" heading

Sorry if this has been covered before but a few searches found nothing. . . .

I have a few bikes listed in “gear” on Strava.

e.g. Silver, Black, Winter.

I recently changed my default bike from “White” to “Silver”.

For the last few weeks I’ve used bikes “Black” and “Winter” but all the activities in Intervals.icu list only “White” and “Silver”, my default bikes during this period.

How do I change this so that the actual bike used for an activity is listed, not simply the Strava default bike?

On your activity page there’s an icon left of the <> arrows. Click that and you can edit the gear. I noticed it doesn’t show in portrait mode but does show in landscape (when using a mobile phone browser)

If you’re on the desktop version, then click on the activity name, and it shows the gear bottom right.

Gerald, thanks for taking the time to reply but my question still remains, which is, why does all my data from each activity pull through from Strava except the gear? Why should I have to manually change the gear in intervals.icu after it has been pulled through from Strava?

To illustrate, my last ten rides have been done on bikes called “black” and “winter” but in the activity listing on intervals.icu, each of the ten rides is shown as “silver” under the column heading gear.

This is because “silver” is my allocated Strava default bike. In reality I use several bikes regularly so it’d be really useful for a quick data browse to have the actual bike used for each ride pull through from Strava to my intervals.icu activity list, not my default bike which then has to be manually amended each time.

Having the actual bike you used also obviously allows you to sort the activities data by bike.

Another way of putting my question:
Why would this one item of data from a Strava activity fail to be pulled through to intervals.icu when every other item of data is pulled through correctly?

To those that may say, “well, just edit the gear in the intervals.icu activity”, I have several hundreds of historical activities incorrectly classified as my default gear (in operation at the time of the activity) and I’m not about to manually amend each one!

Maybe I should raise an incident report or whatever it’s called?

Unfortunately Strava doesn’t notify Intervals.icu when you change the bike used and it uses too many Strava API calls to poll for this information. So if you complete a ride, then change the bike on Strava Intervals.icu already has it with the default bike.

You can use the “Download old data” button in the Strava box in /settings to get things in sync. I just tested this using 1st - 7th May and it updated the gear.

@david Many thanks, that worked a treat!

Just for reference (in case anyone in future searches and finds this thread for the same question), when I clicked the “download old data” button, my activities list was immediately updated so that each activity was now listed with the actual bike used, not my Strava profile default bike.

The thing to note though is that this batch update is for a limited time period (six weeks I think) so if you want to keep the inetrvals.icu data up to date in respect of bike/gear used, you will need to do a “download old data” update once every few weeks at least. You can’t do an update for a whole previous year or six month period, for example.
