# Watch app: direct upload/sync over Wi-Fi + pace alerts on segment average

Hi, thanks for Companion – it’s my main bridge between Apple Watch and intervals.icu. Two requests:

**1. Sync directly from the Watch app.** Right now workouts only reach intervals.icu (and planned workouts only reach the Watch) when the iPhone app is open and the iPhone is unlocked. My Watch is unlocked and on Wi-Fi, but the iPhone is often locked in a pocket or on the charger. Could the Watch app upload finished workouts itself and fetch today’s planned workout directly over Wi-Fi/LTE? That would make early-morning runs and last-minute plan changes work without touching the phone.

**2. Pace alerts based on segment average.** For easy runs I use one long step with a pace target. Instant pace on the Watch jumps a lot, so alerts fire constantly. An option to alert on the average pace of the current step (or a rolling 30–60 s average) would make pace targets much more usable.
